Need Prayers For A Very Dear Friend
 
Hi guys, Iam posting this for good friend of mine who has a little s**tzhue( spelling:confused: ) any way he is in the hospital with a broken back:( her dh took him upnorth on the wkend and when he came home she said he would not move, she took him in early yesterday morning and the vet kept him to do test, he is still not moving , the vet just called and said he did xrays and he has a broken back, she is so devestaed, they are doing more test on other things, Im asking all of you to please pray for shady, does anyone know anything about this kind of injury? if you can help, we would both appreciate it so much, i know how yt prayers can work. thanks guys

I don't know anything about this type of injury, but it certainly sounds serious. I will keep Shady and your friend in my prayers.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about this type of injury. But I will keep your friend and her baby in my prayers. I hope she's got a good vet who can help them! You're a sweet friend, and I'm sure that she appreciates your concern. Let us know how the little one does.

I am sending prayers to your friends pup. I do not have experiance with broken backs but Babybear broke his neck and he does not walk either. He tries but he doesn't quite have it yet. if there is anything I can do please let me know. Also have your friend tell the vets to do a good check of his neck with xrays. Just to be on the safe side.

Ah....that is so sad.:( I will say a prayer for Shady and your friend. :hands: I hope he can fully recover from that. It sounds so painfull. I have a Shih Tzu and they are the sweetest dogs. Please keep us informed of his progress.

Shady Update
 
just tallked with my friend, they are keeping him another night, he is still the same, she went to visit him and he didnt even respond to her:( they are going to do more xrays and blood work, now the vet is not 100% thats what it is, they are really hoping the blood work shows something, they did say he peeded alittle and that it showed his sugar was high, but thats not unusal if he is not eating or drinking, please continue to pray and i will keep you all updated. thanks friends:hands: :hands: :hands: for shady.

He is still in the hospital, the xray showed his spine to be very nerow, all the blood work came back ok except he had alot of keystones in his urine, they gave him a shot of cortisone and they are keeping him another night, they told her that if the disc breaks and they dont get him to a vet for surgery with in 24 hrs he will be paralized for ever, I told her maybe she should get a second opion, he has been there for 3 days now, and he is still the same. keep praying please, he is only 3yrs old:( I feel so bad for them:(

I don't know a lot about broken backs, but yesterday I went with my daughter to take her yorkie to the vet. He was in pain and we didn't know why. It turns out he has a bad disc in his back and the vet said we have to be very careful with him and not let him jump or go up or down stairs. He said if the pushes on the bone around the spinal cord, it could break through and then he would be paralyzed. It is so scary. Kirby should be okay...just needs time to heal. I hope your friends dog is able to come out of whatever this is. Poor baby.

thats excatly what they told her, he has keystones in his urine though to, he is still in the hospital, not eating & barley drinking, I dont know what the outcome is going to be , but it does not look good:( prayer to your daughter and her baby.

I beginng to think she needs a second opion, they let her bring shady home tonight, the vet said she is stummped? ok he has been there 4 days, now his left side is so swelled it almost touches the floor, Im thinking kidney problem, she said keystones and protein was in his urine, they are more concerned with this then his back at this point, all they gave her for meds was cortisone pills, anyone have any ideas? thanks guys. please keep praying for shady:(

That poor baby, Im keeping him in my prayers. I dont know why the vet would send him home like that. I would get another vet. If he has kedney stones he needs them removed or they can kill him. can he pee? I dont know about the back. but I hope thye take him in to be seen by another vet.

If there is a teaching vet around you (a University) that would be a good place to start. They are very thorough and are very up to date on procedures and issues. Im sorry he is going through such a bad time. I hope things start to turn around.

Shady Update
 
thanks for all who posted and prayed for shady, he is so much better:) the cortisone shots worked and he is up and moving, they just have to be very careful with him as to running and jumping, but he is eating and drinking and much better, my friend thanks you all:) and so do I:animal36 :animal36
