collapsed trach?? my baby jake is making some weird noises not all the time just every little bit. i am wondering what are the symptoms and how do they get it?? how serious it is and will he be until Monday until the vet opens. i am extremely worried about him |
I'm going to ask the obvious. Is he eating, drinking, going to the biffy? Try massaging his throat and see if he starts coughing. Don't push hard though. |
he isn't eating to much but he hasn't since the day i got him(Monday).. he drinks a lot of water and has huge amount of pee. i gave him a flea bath today he was shivering when he got out i thought maybe he has a cold or i something but he is making a weird noise like its a gagging noise where he is trying to cough something up |
Sorry tour baby is not feeling well. If you just recently brought him home he may have kennel cough. That sounds like a dry cough that can be worse at night and the vet can give you an antibiotic to help make sure it stays a virus and not become pneumonia. I would try and make sure he is eating enough even if you have to coax him or feed him some chicken. Nutrical will help if he is not eating to prevent him from having a low blood sugar episode. Just watch him and if he seems to be getting worse I would try and find a vet open 24 hours. Hopefully he will be fine soon. |
thanks for helping i'm not sure what it is, he is sleeping right now im going to leave him in my bed sleeping with me so i can watch him and make sure hes all right. i am going to call the vet first thing Monday morning if he gets any worse i will take him to the vet thats open 24 hours |

I know you also said he's been exposed to other dogs already. He could have picked up something. Did the shaking start after his flea bath? I'd be so afraid he is having a reaction to that. He just a baby and so delicate. Are you able to take his temperature? Normal rectal temperature is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Is he eating? Little Yorkie puppies need frequent meals or they can easily become dehydrated. I'm worried about him, too. |
he is more closer to 10 weeks.. i looked on the calender today. he was only shaking after his bath. and hasn't since then, when he got out i warmed up a blanket for him in the dyer and dried him off.. he hasn't ate very much since i got him, but he seems to be eating more and more each day.. he drinks a lot of water and seems to be going to the bathroom fine. he is just making this weird noise.. not often but enough.. i am so worried, i know i wont be sleeping tonight |
Oh boy i'm so sorry to hear that. I've had two Yorkies with trach problems and it wasn't fun. It almost sounds like a backwards cough or sneeze and it seems like they can't get enough oxygen. If you worried even a little bit that it could be a trach problem, I would reccommend bringing him to the vet as soon as you can. I will say though whenever I have given any of my babies baths and any amount of water gets in their nose, they make a very similar sounding noise. I hope your baby feels better :) :animal-pa |
when he makes the weird noise his tummy growls and then he starts making the noise and gagging, i don't know what it could be! i am so worried if it is a trach problem or anything else will he be ok until Monday or? |
its 1230 am where i am and jake dont seem to be getting any better so were packing him up and were on our way to the 24 hour vet hospital 15 mins away. wish us luck !! |
Get well Jake! Please keep us updated. I'm hoping he just got a sniffle from the bath. |
thank god he only has kennel cough and will be better in a few days:) |
OMG! I'm so glad you took him to the vet! Hope Jake feels better fast! |
Taking him to the vet was the best idea. I'm glad to hear it was diagnosed, he'll be fine in no time. Suzy didn't eat very much when I first got her, it took her 2 days before she ate all her dinner. I think it took her a while to get used to her new surroundings and also one of her brothers was a guts and used to eat all the food so she had to get used to having food all to herself. |
I'm so glad he is going to be ok. I'm sure that is such a relief for you to know the diagnosis! The worst part is always the worrying! |
