My baby girl is shivering The temperature in Reno is dropping and it is getting chilly out. This morning Angel crawled under the covers with me to get warm which she hasn't done for a while. I keep a fleece blanket on the bed for Angel and Bailey and they usually curl up in it and sleep together. When I got up to get ready for work I noticed she was shivering, so I put her in a tshirt. Do you think she is getting sick? or just adjusting to the fall temps? I have not cut her hair for a while so it is long, I just worry about her because she is so small. Advice please. Thank you! |
When is the last time she has eaten? |

If you put a tshirt or sweater on her, does the shivering stop? If it doesn't you may want to consider low sugar or pain. Good Luck, I hope she's just a little cold. |
Definately make sure she isn't having a low blood sugar episode. Hope she feels better soon. |
I went home at lunch to check on her and gave her some nutri cal and a snack, she seems fine. I think it is the sudden change in weather. I called our vet and thats what she thinks too. I am just very over protective of her. Thank you. |
Glad to hear that she is doing better |
As long as she stops shivering when you put a shirt on her, she's probably just cold. That is exactly the reason I designed my lightweight flannel nightie for those cold nights!!! |
One of my babies shivers when it's in the 60's. She always needs a hoodie on, even when the other is fine. I think some are just more sensative to the cold. I'm going to have to check out those nighties Jodie! |
Mine definitely shivers when she's cold Hi, I have a four pound yorkie and she often needs a sweater---this last week in New England during the mornings, she has needed a sweater....Alpaca is great in that she feels very warm! Some nights she will just curl up in her crate and sleep with it on.....Then, I know she won't wake up cold! Hope your little one is okay....:aimeeyork |
Angel is doing better and is warmer. I have been keeping her in a tshirt and she is not taking it off :) she is not even pretending that the shirt makes her limp, her next favorite trick for sympathy. Bailey is leaving hers on also. I pulled all the warm cozy blankets out and they are taking full advantage of them. I guess with it being so warm out and the sudden drop in temp they were just not used to the cooler weather. We also have tile floors which are a bit cooler. Thank you for all the responses, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something obvious. |

Sounds like she's adjusting to the weather. Keep her dressed and make sure she has enough blankets to curl up in. |
yes as already said be very careful....when they shiver they burn off lots of energy, and that means burning lots of sugar, causing hypoglcemia :( I hope you baby stays warm and cozy!!! :p |
