I am sorry to hear your Melly is having leg problems. My knowledge is limited, and there are numerous posts about this injury. It sounds like your vet has given you excellent advice to keep her quiet. Take care, Deborah |
Go to the search. You will find alot of info about this problem. Sending prayer for the little one . |
I don't know about this injury, but Rocky, Bella and I are sending your baby get well wishes! |
We see lots of these injuries where I work-- our doc typically does two or three cruciate repairs a month. I've watched him perform it on everything from a tiny 5 lbs pomeranian all the way up to a 120 lb great dane mix without any issues, but it IS a lengthy, pricy surgery and recovery does take a pretty long while. Just a little advice-- lots of dogs with a torn cruciate have a tendency to favor the injured leg so much that they then put an abnormal amount of stress on the opposite leg, and can end up with the same problem on the other side too. If you opt not to have the surgery done, take your vet's suggestion to keep her quiet very much to heart-- a dog can get along well on three legs, but two legs is a real issue. Hope your doggie feels better soon. |
Keeping your little one in my prayers. |
Welcome To Yt. |
I'm so sorry Melly is having problems. I just went thru this with my little Rebel. It's been 5 weeks since his surgery for the torn ligament and LP. He weighed 5 lb and a few oz when he had the surgery, but lost down to 4 lb 5 oz afterwards so I understand the fear of using anesthesia on one so small. Good luck with Melly :getwellso |
