Anyone hear of "pods" in the skin?? Last night I was petting Beau and found that he has a couple of scab looking things on his back. It seemed to really bother him when I touched it. I squeezed it and it seemed to get larger and larger then a little round pod looking thing came out of his skin!! He has a couple of these little scabs on his skin...what should I do?!? I want to bring him to the vet but I would feel dumb if they are just scabs from bug bites or something. I over worry about EVERYTHING that has to do with my fur-baby. Also I was wondering if maybe this has to do with his age? My last little doggy got sick and died around 10 so I'm worried he might be getting to the point where he's gonna start going down hill fast. Has anyone else has this problem? HELP HELP HELP!!! |
What do you mean by pod? What color was it? i would check with your vet you could call and ask before you take him in. could it have been a pimple? |
Sounds like it could be a Bott Fly larva. Our boy Freddie had these a few weeks ago. DON'T remove them yourself take the dog to the vet as removing it yourself could trigger an anaphylactic (sp?) reaction. |

omg! I think romeo has one. did it look like a cross between a mole and a pimple? when you popped it ..did it clear up afterwards???? |
Sounds like a large blackhead to me... I know that the hairless chinese crested dogs commonly get these and they call them nodules or comedones. Try reaserching that a bit, they may even have some tips on products you can buy to get rid of these and clean them. I'm certain theres a medicated shampoo that might help. |
If something came out it sounds like some kind of larvae. Somebody's pup on here had this too a while back. Sometimes the dog will get an open sore (for whatever reason) and then a fly will lay eggs in this sore. Please go to the vet asap! Better to be safe than sorry. PS. If your vet makes you feel like an idiot for trying your best to take care of your pup, get a new vet. |
Oh my. And I agree the vet works for you, not the other way around. |
I would suggest that if anymore come up and you can pull it out to put it in a baggy and have a vet examine it...dont flush it away lol... Dawn |
