Throws Up About Once A Day Rosie has thrown up about once a day for the past week. I took her to the vet and they said it could be something she ate. If it was should she not have it out of her system by now? I wonder if fresh mulch could make her sick. Anyone know? She's not eating it but does walk on it. |
I don't think there is anything in mulch that could make her sick, but if that's the only thing that has changed I'd keep her off the mulch. |
There are certain mulches that are toxic to small animals:eek: What kind is it? Even though she's not eating it, they do lick their paws in their grooming process. I hope she's much better soon:love: |
Do you treat for fire ants or anything like that? If so, she could be getting some of this on her paws and ingesting it. |
I don't know since I'm in an apartment. That was the only thing I can think of that changed recently. Her food is the same. Could she be lactose intolerant? Maybe the cottage cheese? I'll not give her any. |
Stopping the cottage cheese would probably be good although I think that lactose would also cause diarrhea. Ask your apartment complex if they have been treating for fire ants or used any pesticide lately. I had this same problem when Bailey was a puppy. It turned out that the problem was the powder we were using on the fire ant hills. We were bringing in small amounts on our shoes which were making him sick. A lot of apartment complexes in TN have recently been treating for fire ants because it has been in the news so much around here. I hope you find your answer soon. |
She has diarrhea too. I guess I should have said that from the beginning:rolleyes: I'll call the apartment complex tomorrow and will also stop feeding her cottage cheese. Hmmmm....hopefully its not something the apartment is using. Where will she go potty then? Thanks everyone for the replies. |
what do you feed her? Layla had that problem when i was feeding her blue buffalo... she threw up and had diarrhea for over 2 weeks... you might consider getting a higher quality food assuming you arne't using one... if you are.. maybe she is allergic to something in it? try giving her boiled chicken and white rice for a few days and see if she throws up... good way to tell if it is her food or something else |
I cook her food and I have given her the same food for 3-4 months. I didn't give her cottage cheese, so I will try that for a while. She didn't throw up this morning. The weird thing is that when we put her food down last night to eat, she was pacing around with her tail tucked in. Later when we gave her food she scarfed it down. Anyways, we will try this for a while. |
has she ever had her anal glands cleaned? With Baby, I have to have her's cleaned about every 2 weeks if not, she vomits this white foamy stuff. |
I never knew not cleaning anal glands could cause vomiting. She was fine today. It's probably the cottage cheese. We changed the brand we give her. We will not give her cottage cheese for the next 2-3 days. If she doesn't vomit, we will give her the old brand we used to give her and go from there. Thank you everyone for your comments. |
