Chocolate poisoning I am beside myself right now. My 1 year old Angel who is 3.5 lbs got into my daughter's friends back pack today and ate some chocolate. It was milk chocolate and she didn't eat very much but since she is so small and the chocolate was ghiradellis, which is a better chocolate she is very ill. She is at the vets tonight on IV, I can pick her up tommorow if all goes well. Please say a prayer for her...Bailey is moping around looking for Angel. We don't even keep chocolate in the house anymore, my daughter's friend is here for a few days visiting and feels awful that she left her bag on the floor. |
I will keep your lil Angel in my prayers. I'm sure she will be fine. |
:hands: :hands: :hands: for little Angel - hopefully because it was milk chocolate - she won't become really ill!! |
Thanks, I am praying that she will be ok. She was so sick, vomiting everywhere. I had to bathe her, We were just really afraid she would get dehydrated. Angel is so sweet, quiet and cuddly. She has never been by herself overnight anyplace before, I hope she isn't too scared. |
Poor baby. We're keeping her in our thoughts. I'm so glad you brought her to the vets. A little bit of chocolate is not a big deal, but I'm glad you're not taking any chances. |
Aww, poor little Angel. Saying a prayer that she feels better real soon! |
Prayers are coming your way. |
sending prayers for angel |
She has the right name, angles are watching over her, she is in my prayers |
update I just talked to our vet and Angel is doing pretty well this morning and I can go pick her up in a couple of hours. She had a pretty rough night with being sick, they lightly sedated her to get her heart rate to slow down and had her on an IV to replenish her elecrolites. The blood work showed no permanant damage to her liver.:) Chocolate effects each dog differently, Bailey got into chocolate one christmas and just had diarhea. Angel would of died if I had not taken her into the vets. She is a tiny girl and her system could not handle the overload of caffine. I have to keep her on a bland diet for a few days. I'll post later to let you know how she is doing at home. Thank you for all your prayers. |
Thank GOD she will be ok. |
Glad she is doing better! What a scare! |
Oh I am so glad you took her in and she is doing better and will be home soon. |
Angel is at home now and doing well. I have to give her some anti nausea medicine for the next few days and keep her on white rice and chicken. Her blood work came out fine. The vet told me she had never seen a dog with a heart rate as high as Angel's and was still healthy afterwards. This is a reminder for everyone to keep chocolate away from pets and to remind house guests and visitors to do the same. Thank God and thank you all for your prayers that she is doing so well. |
So glad to hear that she is home and doing well:) |
