i thought you were ment to put it on every 3 months not every month like this lady said she was doing:confused: ive used it on mine and put it on every 3 to 4 months like it says on the packet. the only reason i stated useing it was cos zac had a bad reaction to frontline, i had used frontline on him a few times before and he was always fine with it but the last time he had it he came out in large blisters all over his belly, was having small fits, and seeing things. it does go in to the blood stream cos he wouldnt of had fits if it had just stayed on the skin, it would have to go in to the blood to get to his brain. i bathed him 5 times a day for a week untill he was back to normal again. also on another site i go on a lady used advantix on her dog and had the same thing happen to her dog as zac. |

My friends little Yorkie is laying lifeless at the vet as I write this, liver and Kidney failure, The vet thought it was antifreeze posioning but she was an inside dog and they had just put the k9 advantix on her. She told her vet and he says yes it could be what happened to her and it will have to be treated the same way sense they both cause kidney/liver failure. |
I am so sorry for this little one. My guys were just due for there frontline but for some reason I put it off. I just started to use the frontline since we had a problem with flea. I tried a lot of the herbal oils but just could get rid of the fleas. I am using minksheen weekly and will try the oils again. Those that use the herbal oils, what works best for you? |
i use k9 advantix on all of my dogs and have for years. i think her dog just had a bad reaction. i have seen this on the internet but i have not seen any other dogs that this has happened to. |

My puppy was completely healthy until one day after I put flea medicine with mostly Permithrin in it on her, then she ended up in the hospital for 24 hours. The vet was sure it was a reaction to the flea medicine, and when we called the manufacturer they had a protocol of what to tell you to do. Now the manufacturer continues to call me to make sure my dog is alright - which leads me to believe they know something is up with their product. |
I think alot of the chemicals do stay in our pets from useing these products and if useing often how can all that toxic get out of their bodys. I know I used a flea shampoo on some puppies that was covered in fleas years ago, I rescued them and the stuff made them act very slow for hours after. |

Also I found that Permethrin, like all synthetic pyrethroids, is a neurotoxin. Symptoms include tremors, incoordination, elevated body temperature, increased aggressive behavior, and disruption of learning. Laboratory tests suggest that permethrin is more acutely toxic to children than to adults. Some of these medication that you use on your furbabies may be just as dangerous for your skin babies! |

Well, not that my opinion means anything (You know what they say about opinions they are like a.. h... everybody has one. LOL) but I've always been against putting any kind of chemical on my dogs. I know my vet is well respected and he says it's safe but I DO NOT LIKE TO USE IT. I have used it in the past, but only once when my Newman (May he rest in peace) was on the beach with me and we walked through a trail and he became infested with fleas. Truthfully, I think you are better off just checking them daily and if they do get some fleas, use the "Dawn Dish Detergent Method" to get rid of them. Works like a charm and there is no worry. so all of you who don't use commercial flea/tick medicine and live in area where they are a major problem, what do you use and does it work? |
The last 2 times I used AdvantixK9 on Roxy, she had a very bad reaction. She rubbed everything, everywhere, She paced, wouldn't eat, didn't sleep, was very jittery, wouldn't let me touch her for 3 days. She was fine after that and Remi was fine, but they both still got fleas within 2 weeks so now we are battling that because I won't put any chemicals on them again. I'm not sure what to do besides hope winter gets here soon and the little buggers freeze. |
