Addison's Disease Does anyone have any experience with this? |
I don't have any experience with Addison's, but I'm sure someone will, so I'm bumping this up for you. Has your puppy been diagnosed with Addison's? Big hugs to you! |
Rainbow was diagnosed with addisons about two weeks ago. She had been fine, and i got up that friday morning at 6, got in the shower, and when i got out i noticed that rainbow wasn't following me, She couldn't walk, her little body was paralized. We rushed to the vet, and he started her on a iv right away. The doc said her potassium was way to high and so was her blood sugar. They kept her for two days, she is home now. And she is acting normal normal. I just don't know what to expect. I am stressing out about it. I have done some research but nothing seems to be consitent. Is this genetic? If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. Thanks! |
Sorry to hear about Rainbow, I have a 10 year old Pom that has Cushings which is the opposite of Addison's. . I looked up Addison's and it says it is uncommon and some causes are tumor, infections and toxic drugs. My pom is on a toxic drug for Cushings and if she gets too much she will go into Addison's and I have prednisone to bring her out of it. It says the treatment for Addison's is cortisone (steroids) Did the vet do a ACTH stim test that is how Addison's is diagnosed. Maya has to have one every month and theyarer 150-200 dollars. Hope this helps. |
I'm not even sure things were so hectic that day. We are going back tomorrow, and now i have had the time to gather all my questions. HE said He thought it was addison's because he originally thought it was something else but the medication that he gave her at first didn't change anything. So right now she is on prednisone, and she is acting like herself again. But we will know more tomorrow. He said that when she came of the prednisone if she had another spell he would know for sure that it was addisons. |
