New 4mo old with watery stools I don't know what to do for my new grandson, my daughter just got him Fri evening and we dont have much history on him. Any way his stools were loose but this evening the poor thing is just squirting everywhere. I'm not sure what I can do for him until tomorrow where he can see the vet. |
Does anyone have any suggestions?? |
Push fluids, and give that furbaby some nutrical. They can go downhill so fast when they're young and tiny. Give some water mixed with Karo syrup, ice cubes, or clear broth (can be frozen in ice cubes). You can also try giving him some Pedialyte if you have a 24 hour store that carries it-our 24 hour grocery store has it, as does our 24 hour WalMart-try there. I would also recommend getting a small needle-less syringe to squirt water/Pedialyte into his mouth. Sometimes they get weak and won't drink...but that fluid/sugar is SO important when they're young. And, remember to keep him warm. Check on him every hour or so tonight, and get him to the vet in the AM. If anything changes, or takes any strange turn, get him to the emergency vet right away. Better safe than sorry! Good luck, I hope he's better soon! |
yes, thanks I didn't even think of nutrical I have that on hand. He took a little water while ago. We dont have an emergency vet here. He's not lathargic yet anyway but I'll keep pushing fluids. Thanks so much!! |
