Nasal Passage Blocked? Has anyone had to deal with this? Once again my grandmother's Yorkie is sick. He has really been through the ringer. He now has a cold or either something blocking the right side of his nose. He is on meds and will blow nasty stuff out of his nose but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. The vet even checked for a tumor of some kind and she ruled that out. Next the vet used some kind of instrument to look up his nose and saw nothing. Same goes for the x-rays. She didn't see a thing up there. NOW she is telling my grandmother that she will have to take him to another vet about 100 miles away so the can use a smaller instrument to look up his nose again. I don't know what to think. He is 3 years old and has a TON of illnesses. I have to wonder if any of it is due to poor breeding. They never saw his mom or dad or this brothers/sisters. The breeder just brought him out for them to see. She never questioned it. He reminds me of a redlegged Yorkie. His ears and the tip of his nose almost look like he has leather ear. The pigment on his nose and his eyelids is black but with white spots. He is 100% Yorkie there is no doubt. He just doesn't have the best genes I guess you could say. I just wonder if any of this has anything to do with all of his illnesses. My grandmother loves him to pieces and he is pampered beyond belief!:) So to her he is perfect in everyway. Any thoughts? |
Just good thoughts going out to your grandmother and her precious baby. Could he maybe have allergies? |
Thanks. He is her pride and joy thats for sure. She pampers him almost too much and he is spoiled rotten! Then again I don't know too many Yorkies that aren't. I was asking her the same thing. I thought maybe it was allergy too. She said she hasn't been using any new cleaning supplies and nothing else has really changed. I don't know if a food allergy would do this or not. He has been on an antibiotic and benadryl for a while now and nothing seems to be working. I think they are going to try a new medication so that might do the trick. Thanks for the good thoughts.:) |
UPDATE: Nothing is working. The meds aren't working and now they want her to go to a doc in North Carolina. He has much smaller instruments that he can use to try and look up his nose. PLus they can also do a brain scan to take a look around. They have no idea what the prob could be. It is all a bit crazy. I just hope the vets down there can help. |
I truly wish you luck with this baby, sending prayers for healing. Bumping this up so more will see it. Let us know how he is doing. :) |
Prayers are coming your way for Grandma and her furkid. |
:eek:UPDATE: My grandmother called tonight and told me that the vet used a much smaller scope to look around.. He said he found 2 blades of grass!! He said that after he pulled the grass blades out that a bunch of nasty stuff that had been blocked came out. I know he must feel a lot better. I am just sooo shocked that something so small could do so much damage. I thought maybe this would be good info for others in case something similar happens. He has been put through the ringer but thank goodness it was only grass! |
