Pray for Road Dog A friend of ours dog is very sick, They took him to the vet last week and I guess he was bite by a tick. He cant move and has been just laying for a week, They have him on medication, but hes cant move his body. Tick Paralysis This is a potentially fatal reaction to a paralyzing toxin secreted in the saliva of a female tick late in her feeding. Vectors include Rocky Mountain wood, American dog, and lone star ticks. Signs/Symptoms: Headache, vomiting, general malaise, loss of motor function and reflexes, followed by paralysis that starts in the lower body and spreads to the rest of the body. This can cause respiratory failure and death. Death in young children can occur in one or two days |
my moms dog My moms Aussie had this ..she moved to Ca from Wa where they dont worry about ticks Emma was staggering and looked near death her recovery was quite fast though ..my vet told me in order for Tick paralise MS the tick must feed for over 24hrs eakkkkk:eek: |
I see only one person posted to this thread. I just wanted to update it. Its been a rough few months for this poor dog and the people who took him in. He is a big dog and for months he could not walk , they had to carry him out side to potty. well the vet wanted to put him to sleep. but the dogs eyes and smile told them he wanted to live. so as the months went on. Road dog got up yesterday and is acting like nothing ever happened to him. Im so happy for him. |

Those people sound like living angels. It sounds like they are now one big happy loving family. Homeless dogs are always so loving and grateful for whatever love they receive. I almost, at times, feel so guilty for all that Bud has in life. I hope they have many wonderful years ahead. |
I'm so glad this dog is back to his same old self, and they can begin their life's as a family. |
Just saw this thread, so pleased it is a good news story.:) |
