I bet Layla has a "skeeter" bite! Poor baby! But, she may have gotten into something itchy or another bug outside too. I'd call your vet about the Benadryl...and make sure you're using the kids' dye free kind, just in case. It's bubble gum flavored! Emma has seasonal allergies, mostly in the summer/fall season and we too use benadryl for them. I believe she got about 1/2 tsp every 6-8 hours, and she was about 5 lbs. then. But, check the dosage with your vet. I think it's ok if you give them a little more than they need, or a little more frequently than 6 hours if they're really not feeling well, but she will probably be hyper first, then sleepy. Call your vet in the AM to make sure you've got the dosage and timing right. A friend of mine uses the little Benadryl dissolvable strips on her Boston-you might try those too. I think they're easier for them to take than liquid. |

We used to have a little mini schnauzer that chewed her paws........ we finally found out that she had GRASS allergies!!  So we had to limit her yard time and tried to keep her on the patio when we were outside. Hopefully she just has a little bug bite that will clear up. I wonder if you can use caladryl on dog bug bites???? |
Oh poor baby, I hope she feels better soon. Weren't you by the water? Maybe there's a little sand in there or something and it's irritating her. Feel better Layla!!! |

Could be Fungus A very simple cotton swab between your pet's paw and the vet can identify if it is yeast. Charlie had been chewing his feet for many years (from former vet records), and has been easily remedied with special shampoo. Good luck. |

Poor Layla! I hope she's feeling better soon, but it sounds like you're doing all the right things in my opinion. I think a bath would be a good idea. :) |
