Rocky swallowed a plum pit :( Hi, Rocky swallowed a plum pit a couple of nights ago. I wasn't happy about it but wasn't worried. Now I am reading that plum pits can be poisonous. Will he pass this? He has been panting alot but he always pants and it's been very hot the last few days. Erika |
I think swallowing a plum pit would be worth a trip to your Vet just to be on the safe side. Good Luck.... |
I would be a little worried if it could cause an obstruction....I hope he's all right....don't know about the poison part though....may be good cause to go to the vet.... |
I don't know how big your Yorkie is but I would be worried about it passing. They are kinda of large for small Yorkie to pass. Better safe that sorry. Head for the vet. Good luck. |
The pits or seeds of many fruits are poisionous to dogs. Signs of poisoning include drooling, vomiting, and lethargy. If your dog is showing any of these signs I would get to the vet ASAP. Please keep us posted. |
I'd definitely go to the vet, if nothing else just to be on the safe side. Good luck and I hope he turns out to be fine. Please keep us updated. |
Rocky swallowed a plum pit Hi, I just called the vet. They said to be sure to watch his poop. They said it has to come out one way or another. If I don't see signs of it, then there may be a problem because it can't stay inside. So I have to make sure to watch every poop and if there is any sign of vomiting or illness to bring him in. So that is what I'll do. So far he is acting completely normal. Erika |
Just checking in to see how Rocky is doing and if he passed the pit yet? |
I was checking also...did it pass?...I can't believe I'm on a poo watch ;) ... hope everything is alright.... |
Rocky swallowed a plum pit Hi, I have been checking poop for two days now and don't see anything resembling a plum pit. He is doing fine and it doesn't seem like there is anything wrong. Honestly, it seemed too big for him to have swallowed it but I don't have any other explanation - it couldn't have just disappeared. I think he may have done exactly this a couple of years ago. He gets into everything. I don't think I could have swallowed it - it was that big. As of right now, everything appears to be fine. I have a minerature poodle on her way to congestive heart failure with big vet bills so between the two of them, I have been under alot of stress. As long as he appears to be ok, I am trying not to worry. Will keep an eye on him. Erika |
ah! i hope it comes out soon!!! poor baby.. hope its not hurting his tummy.. |
Hope you are able to find a quiet spot to de-stress. Thinking of your other pup and sending healing thoughts. Warmly, Deborah |
Rocky swallowed a plum pit - Update Hi, everyone! Looks like Rocky got up this morning, threw up, and there was the plum pit!! Thank God! At least it's over and without any ill effects as far as I can see. I didn't expect to have it come out at that end! Thanks for all your good wishes. Now on to the next crisis. Erika |
Good to hear the pit came out one end lol...I have seen on animal planet dogs swallow the strangest things!! BIG things, sharp things, icky things (like underwear) etc...I dont know how they get it down but they do!! Dawn |
So glad Rocky managed to get rid of that plum pit! That is one worry out of the way. Sorry to hear about your poodle, hope that one is doing okay too. Take care. |
