Is Our Puppy sick? so our 5 month old puppy is acting very strange. He is laying all by himself and earlier was shaking and whining. He also peed on the couch and he is laying in it. When we give him a lot of attention he acts playful and normal. As soon as we stop physically playing with him he goes back to the couch and starts shaking. It is 76 degrees in the house. I think it might be crickets that have just starting making a lot of noise. It also smells faintly of propane in out house (even though we do not have any gas hookups or a gas grill of any sort), we think it might be a neighbor grilling. Please help us! We aren't sure if we are just being worried parents or if there is something wrong... |
i would call an overnight emerg vet and see what they think.. they can often tell you over the phone what might be wrong. an di'd be trying to get some food or water in him.. sounds like low blood sugar |
Okay, this is gonna sound stupid, but this has happened to us with Jake. Check his little butt and see if he might have a little bit of poop stuck there. A couple times Jake has acted like that, and it ended up being that. It sometimes gets stuck to their hair. Gave me a big scare first time it happened! If it's not that, has he been eating and drinking normally? |
sounds like low blood sugar - use nutrical or honey if you do not have and give pedialite in water and call emergency as dexter had when he was 5 months but he was not shaking - that is not good - I would do a bile acid test and blood panel as well to get a base line for your puppy and make sure no liver shunt as shaking makes me nervous like seizures or something :( |
