Roxy swallowed a hairclip My Roxy swallowed a little hair clip Monday. We took her to the emerg., and since it was a holiday here, they couldnt get ahold of a scope to pull the hairclip out. They had to do surgery :( She is home now, but going NUTS without her rawhide chewies! She is looking in all her hiding spots for them and walking all around trying to find one! I picked them all up before she came home, but she found one and I took it away from her. I am not sure if she is ready to be chewing on one of them yet. Her surgery was MOnday. When do you think it is safe to give her a chewy again? Or suggest something else to keep her occupied! Thanks |
Boy the things they get into. Good thing you knew she swallowed it or it could have been trouble down the road. Buddy used to chew rawhide but I took it away years ago. He was a big chewer and I replaced them with a plain white beef bone bought at the pet store. They come in many sizes so pick one out that would fit her mouth. She can chew all she wants but won't swallow anything. You can even put a little peanut butter or cheese in it. They are all natural and help with the tartar on the teeth. Wishing her a speedy recovery. |
I am so sorry to hear about Roxy's incident. My Tiger has eaten Annika's clamp style clips so many times (and they are made of metal) . . I see it come out though and never worry :) Did Roxy shows some signs of being sick after eating the hairclip? Hope she is feeling better now . . . |
Get well wishes to Roxy...hoping for a speedy recovery. And no more hair clips...for you little girl... |
Well, it is sort of a long story.,..Roxy wears bows, clips, bandanas, shirts, you name it, and it doesnt bother her at all! But if you put my moms yorkie with her, you have to take anything that Roxy is wearing and get it off. Or Bailey will tear it off for you! Well, my mom forgot the other day and we came back to the clips in pieces on the floor, with one part missing. At first we werent sure which one ate it, so they both had to go for x rays! The other pieces were so sharp, we didnt want to chance her trying to pass it! No more clamping hair clips for my baby anymore! I just dont know if i should let her start chewing anything, or if the chewing will injure her incision they made to remove the clip. |
I'd call the vet and ask them what she can have just to be sure. Did they give you any limitations? I'm glad she's doing okay. |
