GIARDIA - can adult dogs catch? I have 4 adult dogs in my household... the youngest being Hope(15 months) we have been battling diarrhea for 4 or 5 weeks now... they all eat different diets so I know it isnt the dog food... they were treated for a virl infection the first week, rice/chicken... they got a little better but it didnt go away... now, in week 4(beginning week 5) they are done with 5 days of the Pana... I have been reading and it sounds like giardia... can adult dogs catch it without puppies aaround? it appears so to me... we are off to the vet tomorrow! AGAIN! d |
Yes, they most certainly can! And, I speak from experience. All it takes is for one to get into a puddle of contaminated water and the damage is done. You may have to treat all of your babies at once to get rid of the bug as they may be passing it back and forth between themselves. You may have to get all your babies down to the Veterinarian to get you some Metronidazole (sp?). Make sure you not only keep clean water accessible, but thoroughly clean their drinking bowls. When I had my episode, I bleached EVERYTHING in sight. GOOD LUCK Donna. I hope all your babies gets better soon. |
thanks girl... I have been reading and mannn.. do I have some bleaching to do.. haha I already threw out their old water bowls but I will have to bleach them too now... I feed them out of glass bowls only now and run in the dishwasher between meals... it is so fun, aint it? Thanks! d |
