I've called the emergency clinic all day but didn't speak to the vet until a few minutes ago. Jerome is not coming home tonight:cry: He asked me if Jerome is a picky eater b/c he has only eaten a little bit, not as much as he would like seeing him eating. He looks better and he thinks he is feeling better too,, but he wants him to eat. He told me to call him tomorrow before 8 in the morning so he can tell me if we can pick him up. He is thinking that if Jeroome doesn't eat much tonight he may release him so he can come home and maybe that would make him eat. I was hoping that my baby was going to sleep with us tonight, but I guess not. I know it's better that way right now b/c we all want to be sure that he is ok and it doesn't hurt leaving him there one more night, but I miss my baby and I don't like to be away from him:(

best if he stays until he can eat and drink - less stressful for you too incase he gets sick at night

The vet is right, but it's so hard for us...but really Jerome is in good hands, it is best that he is strong enough before he comes home, that was the reason for taking him there. Hopefully he'll eat a little more for them, and they will have confidence that he is well enough to go home. You keep your chin up, and get some rest...take care of yourself, so you can take care of Jerome.

I am sorry to hear that Jerome is so ill. I too have been in your place and it is frightening. Look forward to reading your post tomorrow that Jerome is home with you and recovering. Warmly, Deborah

Good morning ,
We picked up Jerome this morning and he is back home with us yay!. He is much better. I called the emergency clinic and the vet told me that Jerome ate more last night and that he actually pooped solid (sorry, for being too graphic), so he felt confident to release him and letting us taking him home. As soon as he finished telling me that we were on our way to the hospital once there the vet tole me that Jerome is going to be on a bland diet such as rice and boil chicken. He also gave us some cans of I/D food which is some kind of prescription food and told us to do that for 2 days before we can start introducing him to his regular food. He gave us clavamox and after that he went to the back to get my baby and oh god! he was so happy to see us and of course we were too. He looks so much better and you can see that he feels so much better too. He is lying down next to me right now.:)
I want to thank all of you for your words of encouragement and for your prayers and for the support that i received thorough all your posts.

so this was not pancreatitits? If not ok to feed i/d if it was pancreatitis do not feed i/d as vet gave dexter i/d and he relapsed after 5 days on it to severe pancreatitis and hospital and internal medicine doctor say they hate that hills has this on site for pancreatitis as they do not recommend it at all for pancreatitis and have seen dogs get worse on it :( dexter was eating the canned form of it

he was eating extra lean ground turkey and rice when he came out of hospital

I feel the same way about Hill's I/D and believe I previously said it is convenient for the vet because it is stocked in the backroom. Wished I had known about YT when Sophie was so ill because this forum is so helpful.

:2omg: I didn't know that! I've only given him a few tablespoons of it, they told me to give him boil chicken or beef with rice too. I'm boiling chicken as of right now. I'm glad you mention that, thanks you so much!

So happy to hear Jerome is home again...and feeling better!!! Isn't it funny how a couple days can seem like an eternity...I know it was for the best for Jerome, but the wait for you must have been rough. Let's just hope and pray that he continues on this road to a full recovery!!!

yeah boiled chick and rice or extra lean ground turkey and rice - i would go with the chicken though as dexter got sick on the turkey and rice and turned out to be a bacteria infection after the 2 bouts of pancreatitis - ugh
