Bella has had diarrhea for 3 days! My little Bella (16 weeks) has had diarrhea for the past 3 days! The first days she was vomitting as well, but now it's just diarrhea. I feel so bad for her and I don't know what to do! She is going to the vet tomorrow for her last set of shots. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to help her. She is acting normal, she doesn't have a fever, and she is eating and drinking like normal. I don't know what is causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to help her! Thanks! At 16 weeks, I'd get her in pretty dang quick for a stool sample! It could be giardia, coccidia and other things that could cause her to go downhill pretty quickly if untreated. It may be nothing, but I wouldn't chance it. I'd suggest you be quite careful with the Metro - if you give this intermittently for ONLY short periods, you may be creating a resistant bug bc the offending bug doesn't ever really go away. If giving Metro, do the full regimen - as recommened by the vet. (No offense SadiesAmie :) :) :) ) |
we did the metronidazole for 5 days. |
it cleared up immediately but we did what the vet said 5 -7 days. sorry i forgot to mention that. it kinda came across like just 1 pill and that's all. :-) it clear up within a day. but continue for the full 5. then we were told if no improvement she would need to be seen again. but it did clear up. :-) |

Do you think I should pick her food and water up? |

Definitely get her checked. Lulu had diahrreah for a couple days after her last shot. I gave her pedialyte so she wouldn't get dehydrated and a bit of pepto. She was right as rain after two days of that. They normally suggest a bland diet to settle their tummy as well (boiled chicken, white rice and some plain yogurt). |
Also make sure she is well hydrated so keep a close eye on the water intake since she is vomiting/diarrahea and is losing fluids |
She deffinatly drinks a lot of water. I can't keep her bowl full enough! She is acting completely normal except the diarrhea. I wonder if she ate something she shouldn't have when I wasn't looking. I don't know why else she would have diarrhea. I give her the same food everyday, and NEVER any people food! |
Give a teaspoon of pepto bismal for kids and feed white rice and chicken. I hope she feels better! |
Pumpkin works great for this also. I hope she feels better soon! |
So, yesterday I took away her dog food and gave her a little pepto bismol and I have been giving her white rice. No, diarrhea since about 7 last night! We're keeping our fingers crossed that's the last of it! |
AH! Help! I took Bella to the vet today and the vet said she didn't have a fever and check for parasite's and everything seemed to be fine. The vet went ahead and gave her her last round of shots! I have been feeding Bella rice all day and she seems find. Still acting normal, eating and drinking like normal. But, now her poop is yellow with some brown! Is this due to the rice??? I am kinda worried any help would be appreciated! Thanks! |
Pumpkin, boild chicken, and rice it's the perfect combintion for the runs. |
I've been giving her rice, and just added chicken about an hour ago. I'm scared that something is wrong since her poop is yellow! Is this normal with eating rice?? |
I would say it's normal my girl had a rainbow of colors, lol, when she was getting better after having the runs. |
Is her poo getting hard?? |
Yes, It is deffinatly getting firmer. Still soft, but firmer. It was weird, their was normal poop in the yellow,Mustard colored, poop |

Ok. Thanks! You are easing my worries. I will give it another day or so, and give the vet a call if it doesn't change. |
No problem :) |
So, she just went again and now its green! Looks like your right about the rainbow! So, this is a sign of her getting better, right?? |

My doggie has a sensitive stomach. He went thru a Pancreatitis episode when he was 1 1/2. Now he is almost six. I only feed him Eukanuba dry food & bland chicken & rice. He's had a few other episodes where his stomach got upset due to me giving a treat, and also back when i used to give him greenies years ago.....Everytime he's gone thru this, he's recovered fine, with holding food one day, to allow he stomach to rest...and his # 2's are always very wierd until I re-introduce his reg. dry food. When ever he eats chicken & rice, his poop always gets a little soft and mucousy. That's why I keep him on reg. dry food, and for accurate nutrition. I've actually taken this stage of #2 to get fecal examed and it's always come out negative. HOPE THIS HELPS! :) |

Oh my...was it that bad? I know the major risk is dehydration.. What is ibd? I don't give Frankie anything other then his eukanuba & rice, chicken. NO TREATS. I believe it's not necessary and it's not really healthy for any dog. Before Frankie got sick, we didnt know any better and fed anything you can imagine....people food, peperoni sticks, cesaer dog food.. and it took him 1 1/2 until it affected his pancreas. Now he is completely healthy...and the only times he's had a bad stomach again was when he had greenies, or picked up something he wasn't suppose to eat. |

Ibd is inflammatory bowel disease. None of our dogs get treats at all and we did the same as you - pupperonis, etc and it hit him at 2 years old - it was horrible and never want to go through that again |
Update! Well I waited until Monday and Bella still wasn't doing any better. Since it had been almost a week I called the vet and she gave her a perscription of Amoxitabs. It help right away. She made it through the night last night with no diarrhea and her stool is looking much better today, not runny at all. It seems like we are finally making it through this! |
