Oh Rebecca I am so sorry to hear that Hootie and Hobbs are sick! Those poor babies! :( Man though, I can't believe that she told you to give them a dose that was mean for a much bigger dog  Maybe it was just too much for them and is upsetting their stomachs. I would DEFINITELY at least call them and ask, and I personally wouldn't give them another one of the pills that are meant for a bigger dog. I would do as you said and exchange them for the correct ones, and if she doesn't have them - I would definitely tell her to order them.
The Nutri-Cal and Pedialyte is a good idea. I did that for Tatum a few days ago when she wasn't feeling well. I gave her a syringe full of Pedialyte every hour (thank you Dina!! LOL) and it's so weird, but she really did perk up after it. After she threw up, I gave her 1 tsp. of Pepto and she didn't throw up again afterwards. Granted she HATED the stuff, but I just had to force it down her with a syringe to make her feel better.
We are sending the babies big hugs and I sure do hope that they start feeling better soon! Keep us updated! I TOTALLY know what your going through girl! :( | THANK YOU so much, Brooke!!
I went home on my lunchbreak and luckily there was no vomit in the crate!!!!! I gave H&H some Nutrical and then fed both of them plain ole tap water with a syringe...I gave them about 15ml total each. Then I hand fed them some food. Hopefully they'll be alright. If I go home after work and find more vomit, I'll go get some Pedialyte and Pepto for sure!
I went to the vet to exchange the pills. My vet really is great and so nice. I took 4 pills back and she gave me 6 of the smaller dose in exchange! I told her she didn't have to do that, but she told me not to worry about it. I thought it was a nice gesture. She said she's given the larger dose to smaller dogs before wtih no problems and she was sorry it didn't agree wtih H&H. She did show me the package insert that said that vomiting was a side effect of the medicine, no matter what dose you give them. Anyway, she said if Hootie continues to vomit, to come back and she'll give me some doggie phenergan for her and I won't need to bring her in, i.e. pay for an office visit. I thought that was nice, too.
Anyway, everyone keep your fingers crossed that there won't be any vomit in the crate when I get home this afternooN!!! |
