Sick after shots Hi all, Lucy is sick after going in for ther 3 month shots yesterday. They did the bortadella and the one they spray in her nose? She started sneezing about 4 hours later and that has turned into what sounds like the worst case of kennel cough, but the vet said it's normal for them after these shots. If she were human I'd say she has croup. Does this make sense? I took her to the vet this morning and she assured me this is normal but it is totally freaking me out. I stayed home with her. She sounds like a honking goose and like she wants to cough something up but there is nothing. Any assurance, input would be most appreciated:( |
Sounds like she has a very sensitive little nose. I don't really have any great advice because mine didn't really do anything like that with the Bordetella. They had more systemic shot reactions like fever, not wanting to walk, etc. That was scary, so I can imagine you feel the same. I would definetely call your vet again if she's still doing this in the morning unless she seems like she's in respiratory distress, in which case I would go to the doggie ER. |
My Luna got very sick after the Bordatella the first time. She developed a respiratory infection that was very close to turning into pnuemonia:( Just watch her closely, and if she seems like she can't breathe right, I'd take her to the ER vet for sure. I hope that she'll be just fine by tomorrow:love: |
poor thing it sounds like kennel cough.. Layla had it... i put a vapourizer in her room for her... it seemed to help.. but it is just painful watching them cough .. i feel for you!! |
My vet said the two most important things to bring them in for is breathing problems and eye infections so let us know how she is doing |
Thanks everyone for the feedback and well wishes:) I ended up taking her back last evening and it is indeed Kennel Cough. They put her on antibiotics and a cough suppressent. She already sounds better and back to her bouncy little self. I'm so grateful to have a place to come to. Thanks for being here!:thumbs up |
