Allergies at 7 months -- uncommon ???? I just took Mattie to the vet today because he's been having sinus problems. Especially at night. He wakes ups snorting like his sinus are plugged or draining. My vet said that there is something in the air that is bothering him right now and that is is very uncommon for puppy to have this problem. Mattie is almost 7 months old. Has anyone else had this problem. I know that he's going to be okay. At least now I know what the problem is. And we have him on some meds now. shelley |
All THREE of my dogs (18 months, 13 months, 6 months) are having seasonal allergies/sinus problems this season. My vet said she has seen dozens of cases of it. She told me not to worry and just give them benedryl. Do a search for "allergies" and you will see that MANY MANY more people are having the same problem, so it's nothing to worry about. You can either give 1tsp of liquid benedryl or a half a tablet of adult benedryl. It will make her tired but it will help her seasonal allergies. |

That's an antihystamine, kinda the same thing as benedryl. Don't worry....she'll be fine! It's happening to lots of dogs this season, but especially the little ones because they are close to the ground and ingest more pollen than big dogs. |
aww i hope she feels better!! |
Dehumidifier helps with breathing and air purification system for air born allergies. The Chlor is an antihistamine same as benedryl - there are 4 different kinds and some dogs do not get relief from them hopefully your baby does. It is safe as dermatologist had us do a trial - and she stated allergies start from 6 mos to 3 years and my dd started at 6 mos :( hers is severe itching though and more skin issues - very frustrating |
As soon as I started reading this thread, the first thing that popped into my mind was one of those 'heppa filters.' Wonder if one of those things would help keep alergens out of the house. |

Jazzie had allergies from about 6 months (she's now 10 years old). Just don't let your vet give them cortizone. Cortizone will make them stop itching but it will supress the puppy's immune system and the allergies can get worse. I put Jazzie on Natural Balance Duck & Potato and she has been allergy free for over 3 years now! Before we switched her diet, she got so bad the doc wanted to start her on weekly allergy injections! Thank goodness I found NB! |
I did the natural balance duck and potato as well and it did not work - you were lucky yours was food allergy - my girl has atopic dermatitis. Read my other posts to see all i have been through - it has been horrible - I really wish it was food :( but if you have to get relief you have too as my girl is on atopica which is better than steroids. |
