Red ring on skin Friday I noticed a perfectly round bright red ring on Henry's chest that is about 1/8 of an inch across. By Saturday and Sunday it had begun to fade and today it is completely gone. I made a vet appointment for tomorrow for him thinking that it was ring worm or something at the time. I've now noticed that the ring is replaced with a small bump under the skin and the red spot is completely gone....does anyone know what this is?!?! He is going to the vet tomorrow, but I am beginning to worry. |
OMG that sounds scary. I hope he's okay. I don't have any advice but I really hope it nothing too serious. Sending prayers your way. |
Sounds like it possibly could have been a bite of some kind.... |

That sounds like a good explanation. I seriously doubt it was ringworm but can't be positive without seeing it. We unfortunately have lots of experience with ringworm because of the kitties we got from the shelter that had it and it really doesn't sound like that. Ringworm would have lasted longer and doesn't normally go away on it's own. Good luck at the vet! |
i agree sounds like a bite! ringworm looks like what you discribed but it sure doesn't go away!! i thought layla had ring worm... turned out to be a rash :p good luck at the vets! |
It could be an insect bite or a tick that got under the skin. Can you see a little hole in the skin in the center. Buddy had a tick half way in that was red all around and then another time just the tick under the skin and no redness! I don't think it is ringworm. That does not dissapear on it's own. |
Thanks everyone! I will let you know how it goes at the vet. :) |
My puppy had the same thing and the vet said it was a pimple, lol it went away, with no problems, or meds needed. |
My kitten had ringworm. It caused intense itching and loss of fur in a circular area. It required a month of treatment to get rid of it. Then I thought it came back but it turned out to be flea allergy dermatitis. Either way, it was accompanied with loss of fur/hair. I tend to agree with the others in that it might have been a bug bite or a pimple. |
It may be a tick that got under the skin. I would have the vet check it out. |
doesn't lyme disease result in a red ring on the skin? Make sure to ask the vet about that... |
yes lymes disease does result in a ring a bullseye is what they call it. My skinkid had it once and he had a round ring that was red but his kept getting bigger and bigger. This sounds a little differant because it went away. Please keep us updated. |
Hey everyone, thanks for your comments. Turns out it was nothing serious and that it was just a bug bite. I didn't know bug bites could result in perfectly round rings on the skin, but the vet said it was not serious. That was a week or two ago, and Henry has been fine, so yeah, guess it was no big deal!! |
