Zoe and chicken? My yorkie (Zoe) is 15 weeks old. I started her on chicken a couple of days ago- just for treats. I grilled it on the George Foreman. Well, tonight she horrible diarrhea on my couch! She is acting fine, and even eating and drinking and playing but boy she must of been sick! Do you think it was the chicken? Is it different if you grill it rather than boil it? I am keeping a close eye on my baby tonight- I'll try pedialyte and the vet if it continues. Luckily she seems like she is going to come out of it alright.:) |
Wow that's interesting. I have given Holly grilled chicken before and she didn't get diarrhea. Was it cooked thoroughly? Hmm Well keep us posted. Hope your baby is okay. |
my only guess is that maybe it wasn't cooked all the way??? and maybe with the grill there is more fat .. like grease you know?? when you boil the chicken it is kinda bland... no flavour really.. but i imagine if you grill it on the george grill.. there is a bit of juice that it cooks in (even tho most of it drains) i'd suggest just boiling.. but i'm sure she appreciated the change in flavour :) |
Maya get's diahrrea from chicken but all of my other dogs are fine with it. I think it just depends on their tummies. Maya does not do well with most dog foods so I just keep her on one kind. Hope your baby feels better soon. |
Maybe it wasn't cooked completely? Or maybe she just had a little too much this time? |
Chicken can give a dog diarrhea. I don't know why but it can and is why I can't give it to my girls. When you do give chicken, make sure you don't salt or season it with anything. Try buying ground turkey instead, and just fry it up in a dry skillet and add it to some plain non-fat yogurt, steel cut oats or mashed up in a fresh sweet potato. (Not the canned ones). I don't give chicken. I give a mixture of free range ground beef, veal liver and ground lamb. I add this mix to ground broccoli and carrots. |
