Incision Bleeding Bella had her surgery last Thursday; she did good. But now her incision is bleeding a little. It seems to be oozing (sorry for the graphic detail) and a little red. She seems to be licking a little; not alot. But any home remedies? I called the vet...I swear they are NO help!! They said to bring her in; its $50 to see her and they are going to put one of the collars on her. I said will she be seeing the vet? They said no just the tech. Soooo...any help to save me that $50...and to really help rather than have her wear that ridiculous collar. |
I don't have any home redemy. I just picked up my boy from the vet on Sat. morning from his surgery. The stitches etc. are on the inside and you can barely see an incision. He told me that if I notice any change, ie: blood, pus, etc. that I needed to bring him in right away. I hear ya on the 50.00 but you also don't want a nasty infection that will cost more in the end. Maybe keep an eye on it and see, otherwise, maybe someone has a better idea of something you can put on it. I hear you on the collar, they are a pain! Kathy |
How is Bella today? The collars cost about $7.50, and the tech can show you how to place on Bella. Charlie had one and they wrapped guaze through the neck sections, so it wouldn't irritate him. Petco also sells collars, but the charge is the same. Look forward to hearing that Bella is well, but if she is still having discharge, I would advise you to seek help for her before she becomes really ill. |
1 Attachment(s) Have you seen the inflatable collars that Petco sells? I had one for Kalani when he was neutered. Let me try to find the pic. It cost a bit more than the cone ones but is a lot more comfy - at least Kalani thought so, he used it as a pillow:) |
I bought that same one from Petco when Gracie was chewing on her leg and it did seem a lot more comfy for her. I think it was about $30 but well worth it for comfort in my opinion ;) |
Bella seems to be better...her incision is healing; but I think they did a sloppy job:mad: She isn't having any more blood discharging from it; and her licking seems to be healing it a little. I try to stop the licking when it becomes excessive but I let her lick every once and awhile. Thanks for all your help! |
