Bella seems strange okay now I know I have posted like 4 times announcing how Bella had surgery today so I am sorry =( but I am nervous; I am noticing this strange opening and closing of the mouth action. As if she is attempting to yawn and cant, or if she is having a sore throat. I called the vet and they didn't seem helpful; the girl said, " we tubed her so she is sore duh" I was like, "DUH?" So I had no help and am turning to YT for HELP...and ADVICE? Any suggestions? |
I'm not a vet so I can't really offer advice except just keep a close eye on her, follow all your vets after surgery advice and if within 24 hours you still are feeling something is wrong - take her in. Sending healing thoughts for Bella |
She probably does have a sore throat, poor baby. Is she drinking at least a little bit? Maybe licking an ice cube might help soothe her throat. When Kalani came home from surgery he was really out of it, especially right when I picked him up and whenever I gave him his pain meds. I just loved on him a lot and the next day he was pretty much back to normal. As for the girl saying 'duh?' - you're a bigger person than me cause I would've given her a piece of my mind! Course my dad keeps telling me that I'm not going to have much mind left if I keep giving pieces of it away - LOL! |
After our Pookie was spayed, she could barely make any sounds except for whimpering. She was hoarse for days. The tubing is hard on them. I'm sure it did make Bella's throat sore. She may feel like she needs to swallow and it probably hurts when she tries. I wouldn't get too worried about it. If she isn't drinking, you can try doing what we did. We gave Pookie water with a syringe to start with and added a little karo to it. She was actually really thirsty since she hadn't had anything to drink for 24 hours. We fed her soft food for a couple of days and then she went back to regular food mixed with soft. |
