Anal Glands and Vomitting ? When I adopted Baby she looked like she had not been groomed in a long time. I took her to be groomed right away and they told me that her anal glands were the fullest they had ever seen! She had been vomiting that white foamy stuff. Now she is doing it again so I called the groomers and she is going to check them to see if they are full again. Does this sound like she needs to go to the vet for something else? Also when she gets excited, I have heard her make the goose honking noise, only a couple times though. |
I know nothing regarding the anal glands. Thank heavens Buddy has never had a problem there however the goose honking I believe is called reverse sneezing. I had a terrior mix who did it once in awhile and Buddy has done it a couple of times when he gets excited. I know it has something to do with the treach. If it happens often I would have the vet check it. |
I would take her to the vet, let them check her over, better to be safe. Best wishes, and keep us posted. |
The goose honking noise comes from the throat, reverse sneezing from the nose. The sounds is really nothing to worry about unless she starts to do it while at rest or it starts to interfere with her daily activities. Other than that, most yorkie's do it and there's nothing to worry about. Its a collapsing trachea, its really worse than it sounds. My puppy did it and when i asked the vet about it he said not to worry and just to monitor it. As far as the anal glands and the vomitting, i can't see how the two would be related. If your puppy doesn't stop vomitting soon i would take her to the vet for it. The foamy stuff just means that there's nothing in her belly, so maybe just try to make her some plain boiled chicken and some rice to calm her tummy down. |
anal sac and reverse cough Hi, This is the first time I post I have a 5 yr old female - my for-ever baby!. My friend has a 1.5 yr. old female yorkie with the anal sack issue, every 15 to 30 days the sac must be drained. She also has the reverse cough. For the second one she took her to a holistic Vet., wanted to get a second opinion...there is nothing to do about the 2 issues other than drain and calm her down. These little guys are high maintenance, but so worth it. |

Just want to say Welcome to YorkieTalk . |
My groomer told me that when the anal sac is full, the signs is white foamy vomit, kinda like foamy saliva. Also scooting across the floor. I still want to have her checked out just to be safe, but I'm gonna take her to the groomer tomorrow just to have her check her anal glands. minnieMamma, welcome to YT!!!! |
my vet told me a way to check the anal glands is to look at the butt and where the 4 and 8 would be on a clock is where they would be full. she said you shoudl be able to tell that they are more puffy......i havent done it yet, bc she just told me the last time i got bellas done, but maybe you can look and that will help! |
