Brea again This little girl is going to wear me out with health issues. I put Bio-Spot on all the dogs day before yesterday. They all run around and act like crazed animals... normal. :rolleyes: Brea has continued itching and scratching. This morning I noticed a bare patch close to her shoulder - bigger than the size of a quarter. I called the vet and they told me it could be an allergic reaction to the Bio Spot or some other things... So I am about to give her a bath and try and wash all the remaining Bio Spot off and see if that helps. I've used Bio Spot for years and no one else has ever had a problem... this little one has me so anxious I can hardly stand it. We go to see the orthopedic surgeon on Thursday for her hip.. I'm trying not to worry and think about things too much but I'm kind of afraid.... :( |

Thanks you guys! She is having a bad reaction to the Bio Spot I put on all the dogs for fleas and ticks. I have used this stuff for at least 4 years on the other dogs and they have been fine. They had to shave her a bit more where she was losing hair to get the hair away from the sores. Then they put some kind of steroid salve on it. She is still on her pain meds for her leg, taking antibiotics and Benadryl. I thought I was saving money using the Bio Spot. :thumbdown Cost me a lot more for this vet visit... Question - I used Coat Handler Clarifying shampoo to get the Bio Spot off of her. The vet said to use Dawn dishwashing soap. Do you think the clarifying shampoo is enough? I mean, it's a really good shampoo. I hate to put dishwashing soap on my baby. :( I bathed her twice in it and the vet said to bathe her 1-2 times a week for now. |
Sorry about the Bio spot, I work in a pet store and we sell lots of it. I personally use Frontline plus. If saving cost is a factor check out Petmeds.com. Sorry your baby had to be shaved but I hope the iching has let up some. Dawn |
Oh no :(. Wish I could help. The only instance I've seen of this (not with any of mine) is the hair being ripped (or chewed off) the dog as a result of fleas. Hope she gets better. On the side I wonder why he wanted you to use such a harsh soap as Dawn? I mean it is a serious degreaser and will probably strip her coat and skin a lot. Unless that is the point. |
Our cat went nuts when we put some flea drops on her, so much so that I had to wash it all off. So I never used it again. I read up on the stuff my daughter's vet recommended for their cat, Program, and decided to use that instead. They make it for cats and dogs. It's a chewable tablet that simply prevents the flea eggs from hatching. I've been using it for our cat for a year now and our little Yorkie girl for a couple of months, and she does fine with it. We use it in conjunction with Capstar which is a tiny little pill that immediately destroys the fleas that are already on your pet if they are infested. It's safe enough to give it to tiny little baby kittens and puppies, even twice in one day. It's not expensive either when ordered online and can be ordered without a prescription. |

Save money I don't use bio spot...I heard it bad and burns the dogs skin. I use Advantage. Never had a problem with fleas. The Trick is to buy the large weight size there is and Have your Vet to tell you the correct amount to use on each dog. Which is only a few drpps. A syringe tube works great for correct amounts. A big thing of it will run all my dog all year long and I have (7). I Love Those Saving..... ;) |

I'm so sorry Brea had an allergic reaction. I've read a lot of horrible things about BioSpot but I know people who have used it without any problems. I also heard about using Dawn dishwashing liquid to get as much of the biospot off as you can. I hope Brea feels better soon and doesn't have any permanent damage from that stuff :( |
Here is a website with a lot of people that have had dogs that had reactions to Bio spot. I think the Dawn breaks through the oil (grease fighting action) or something because that is what I see vets recommend using when you need to get it off. I'm sorry Brea is going through all this.
