Willow Has To Have Plate & Screws Removed From Her Leg Tomorrow OMG . . . this was not the prognosis we were looking for today. Willow went back for her 15 week check up to see how her two bones were healing and the orthopedic surgeon made the determination that the two inch plate and six screws need to be removed. While her two broken bones have healed completely, she is loosing bone density around the big bone from the plate. This means another surgery, another incision, more stitches, another $1,200, and another 12 weeks of recocery. OMG . . . I am not ready for this. She turns one year old this Monday and I thought she was going to be done only to find out that we are kind of starting over again . . . back to December 28th when she had her first surgery to put the plate and screws in so that the bone would fuse. And now they have to take it out. Please Yorkie Talk Posters . . . please pray that me and Willow can make it through this yet again. I just want her to be able to run and play like other little yorkie puppies her age and she won't be able to do that for a very long time. Please pray for her safe surgery and recovery. Thank you. |

so very sorry I am sure that this is the last thing that you expected. We send our hugs and prayers your way that everything goes well. I know first hand that we are so devistated when they are hurt especially when the recovery time is extended. I pray also for the financial end of things does not burden you. God expects to hear all the details of our trials. Take care as you go through all the tough times. |
I am so sorry for both of you. It doesn't seem fair. I will keep Willow in my prayers. |
im so sorry willow has to go back in to get the plate removed. This happens sometimes for whatever reason, but at least this time the recovery will be a little bit easier. I know its expensive but it will be worth it in the end. I prya for a quick recovery for Willow. the Chi i'm fostering right now has a small plate in her front left leg because it too was broken. Since her bone is so small we worry too about the plate causing problems in the future. I at least work for the surgeon so it will be easier for me to have it removed and whatnot but it does mean another month in the crate for the chi :( good luck with the next surgery |
Wow, that's a whole lot to heap on both of you after what you've just gone through. Prayers and happy thoughts headed your way. We'll be rootin' for ya! :cheer: |
I am so sorry you both have to go through this again! Prayer's coming for Willow to have a successful surgery and be able to run and play like she was meant to do. Be brave little one, we're praying for you. :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
Oh wow. I am so sorry to hear this. I am sure it has been a trying time for you having to keep Willow confined for so long and then to heal and then to hear this. But the good thing to remember is you are a great mommy. Willow is so blessed to have you taking care of and loving her. I will keep Willow in our thoughts and send prayers and well wishes that she recovers quickly and is out running and playing like Yorkies do. |

Thank You Everyone For Your Support! Well so much for me taking Willow in for her surgery yesterday morning like we were supposed to. I used the snow storm we got as an excuse . . . but really I just wanted a little more time to play with her before she had to go through this again. Next Monday will be her first birthday and I decided that we are going to celebrate every day this week since we didn't get to celebrate Christmas because that was when she got hurt. We can have the surgery next week. Our surgeon said it was fine for us to come next Monday and do it. So Willow got some toys a few weeks ago and I put them up and I have been letting her pick one toy out of the bag each day. Yesterday she chose a fun stuffed turtle with a squeaker and she shook it like she had caught something good and growled and played with it all day long. Today she chose a funny looking little rabbit with four really long legs that she shook and shook and flipped around in the air until she was so tired she fell asleep. She went to the groomers today and got a cute little summer do since we won't get to go back for six more weeks. I even let the groomer's cut off her cute little pony tail. It only looks cute for two days after we go to the groomers and then Willow woozles it out of her head and it's a mess for the rest of the time . . . hair hanging down in her eyes. She looks like a little raggamuffin. Now I can see her pretty little face and her pretty eyes. So thank you again everyone for your support and I will continue to have a fun week with my baby and we will be ready to face this together come next Monday. My breeder said we are doing the right thing and this surgery will be a lot easier on Willow and on me and we will zip right through the recovery process. I have a better outlook and yes I think she is right. Please continue to pray for Willow that she has a good surgery . . . a speedy recovery . . . and that her little bones will be good as new after the plate and screws are removed. Big hugs from Pegi and Willow |
