Breathing/Lung problems? or Reverse Sneezing? I have a 14 week old yorkie named Johnny Cash. Last night, he started doing this sucking in motion, like he was struggling for breath and his chest/lungs seemed to expand and suck in quite a bit. My other dog, Tahoe, has experienced reverse sneezing, but he's much older and it sounded more like a cough when Tahoe had it. This little guy sounds completely different so I'm not going to assume it's reverse sneezing. I'm wondering what this could be.... any ideas? Should I be worried? He did it again this morning. ~ Kelly |
Let me know if you find anything out~ Charlie does that too...He is always blowing a hard fast sneezing like he just sniffed somthing icky, and every once in awhile he does a fast in and out like he is having an attack...My youngest daughter said it is the feathers in her mattress top and I wonder as he was on her bed when he did it...I just calm him down and talk to him...yml:confused: |
He did stop when I picked him up.... |
I will~ Maybe try some research on the internet and let you know if I find anything out...yml:) |
IMPORTANT!!!!!! I thought Rio had innocent "backward/reverse sneezing" which can be normal for some pups Turns out, she has tonsilitis!!! And is on anti-biotics. Although Rio was doing the reverse sneezing...it was because her throat was irritated. So make sure your vet opens your pups mouth and looks down it's throat to see if it's inflammed!!!! This could lead to pseumonia (sp?) which is way more serious that tonsilitis!! |
I was at the ER vet with Bonnie last Sunday and it turns out that she was Reverse Sneezing. She had gotten into some snacks in my sons room and we think something may have irritated her throat. The ER vet gave us a print out about Reverse Sneezing. She also told me if you ever have any questions regarding your pets health to use this link (below) because it is the one that the vets use. She said if you do a google search you will usually end up more confused! Reverse Sneezing (Pharyngeal Gag Reflex) Authored by: Becky Lundgren, DVM Reverse sneezing is a disconcerting event in which a dog makes unpleasant respiratory sounds that sound like it is dying -- or will die in the next few minutes. Reverse sneezing sounds similar to the honking noise made by a dog with a collapsing trachea, but reverse sneezing is a far simpler condition that usually does not need any treatment. It is called reverse sneezing because it sounds a bit like a dog inhaling sneezes. The sound the dog makes can be so scary that many owners have rushed in a panic to emergency clinics in the middle of the night. to see the rest of this article see the link below. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Con...S=0&C=0&A=2335 http://www.veterinarypartner.com/ |
Thank You~ Thank you for the WS addresses they are very informative...Charlie does have those spasms and I just pet him and calm him down and he stops, but the other thing he does is blow out of his nose like he just sniffed something icky, so I don't know if this is normal or should I have it checked out? yml |
