i dont know whats wrong yesterday my husband accidentaly stepped on gizzie but he doesnt know where he just stepped back and heard her crying. i dont know if i should take her somewhere. she wont eat . i was sitting in the floor and when she jumped out of my lap she started whelping. when i feel her legs and back she doesnt cry and they dont feel broken but last night when i got up to check on her she was just sitting in the corner shaking thats how she has acted for the past 24 hrs do you think it would be ok to wait until 2morrow to take her to her regular vet or should i get her checked out immediately? |
I would have her checked immediately by a vet . |
i'd go to the vet right now |
If she isn't eating, I'd also go to a vet right away. Any part of her little body could be hurt and causing her to not eat. Good luck and keep us posted!! |
i called the emergency vet im debating if i could wait till tomorrow and take her to her normal vet b/c shes not limping but im scared of internal damages but theres no blood in her stool or anything so i dont know if shes really hurt or if her feelings are just hurt either way im not willing to take that chance. I dont want to wait if something is truly wrong with her but the e vet is 3x as much as her normal doc. poor baby she thinks he did it on purpose when she sees him she runs and hides behind the couch and closes her eyes. i guess she thinks if she cant see him then he cant see her |
I was told by the vet that shaking means they are in pain. You should not wait another second! Take her to the ER vet immediately. It sounds like she may have internal injuries. Not long back another poster had her baby stepped on by her bf. The poor baby's lungs were injured and she did not recover. You may have a chance to save your baby, so go to the ER vet right now before it's too late! |
that was all i needed to hear im in my way i'll keep you posted thanks guys |
good luck!!! i'll be praying for good news!! |
Hope she's okay! Prayers for little Gizzie. |

I always thought that shaking meant they are going into shock. How scarey. I hope everything is okay for your baby. |

Warm fuzzy thoughts going out for Gizzie - plz keep us posted!! |
thanks for the support. Gizzie Suffered a cracked rib and bruised intercostals but no internal bleeding thank goodness. She went home with some anti-inflammatorys and some food that suppossed to be irresistable to dogs called prescription diet but she still hasnt ate or drank in 48 hrs now so i guess i'll be force feeding her due to her small size(2.5 lbs) it just kills me to see her like this poor little baby |
Keep us posted.I hope she heals quickly. That has got to be one our worst fears. They are so fragile! Best Wishes:hearts-xx :hearts-xx :hearts-xx |
Thank goodness she is going to be ok! She just needs some extra TLC. Please let us know how she is doing in a few days. |
Thanks goodness it wasn't too serious!! You just never know with these little guys. Lots of people will put a loose collar with tiny bells on them to know where they are till they are a little older. Sending lots of hugs and kisses and well wished for little Gizzie. |
im so glad she is ok... give her hugs and kisses and load of tlc.. |
Awww, poor little girl. I'm sure it hurts to breathe. But thank heavens no bruised lungs. You can feed her that mush recipe that we have used and keep on hand for our baby when she doesn't want to eat (which is fairly frequently): 1/2 cup half-and-half 1/2 cup instant baby cereal (usually rice, but sometimes oatmeal) 1 whole jar Gerber's strained baby meat (anything but turkey) 1 tsp. Karo syrup (or maple syrup if no Karo available) Just heat the half-and-half and stir in cereal until it's thickened. Add jar of strained baby-food meat and karo syrup. If it's too thick, add a bit of water. We use a baby medicine syringe (one like you get at the drugstore) and place it in the corner of her mouth, and squeeze it gradually. Our little girl actually likes it now, so she just licks it from the syringe voluntarily. |
Did the doctor prescribe anything for pain at all? It would seem like that would be a logical step for someone with a cracked rib. If not, I would probably call and ask if they can give her something for pain. Sometimes, you have to ask them to prescribe or they won't volunteer to write a prescription for it. But you have to be the advocate for your furbaby, just like you do for your real children. And occasionally, that means you have to be pushy and ask for things, rather than sit back and just let them do as they please with your beloved little girl. I had to ask for extra pain meds for our little girl this last week as she seemed to be having a hard time with pain after she was spayed. The doctor gave us 4 pills which covered about 1 day and we called and said we needed more, that she was shivering a lot, which the doctor said was from pain. So they gave her 10 more pills and now she seems to be over the worst of it finally. Btw, you might try some Rescue Remedy for a few days to calm her down when she's around your husband. It sort of resets their brains to react calmly rather than anxiously with the person who inflicted the injury on them. |
aww poor baby. at least its not too too serious tho. i pray for a speedy recovery for your little pup |

You are so right and a good point to bring up. My little Chin just had to have a few teeth removed. The doctor was going to send him home with nothing until I asked. I told the vet "I just had one root canal and was sent home with a whole arsenal of good pain meds i.e. Vicodan, Percocet why would I not want something for my baby who just had to have a few teeth extracted. |
poor baby:( i hope she get better soon. |
I'm so glad that this wasn't worse than what it was. I have some friends who got a baby chi and 2 days later the husband stepped on it. He is 6'3 and he was backing up and tripped over the dog. It killed the poor baby and my friend was miserable for months. So I hate to hear any stories about being stepped on let alone being hurt in any way at all. |
