Your baby will do fine. I'm so glad you are doing it when she is young. My Gigi is now 8 years old and she developed breast cancerllate last year. My vet told me that having a female spayed before her first heat practically eliminates the chances of getting breast cancer later in life. Gigi had one entire side of breast tissue removed and a spay at the same time late last year and a subsequently second mastectomy of the remaining breast tissue earlier this year. Like your baby, she is around 3 pounds. She did fine and was home the same day after each surgery. You will be surprised how fast your baby will recover from a spay. It is really one of the best things you can do to increase the chances of a long and healthly life. She will be fine. |

Give Gigi a big hug and kiss from my girls!:ribbonp: XOXOX ....Linda |
Princess is home! YEA!!! I just brought Princess home. She looks sooooooooo pitiful but i know that is the way they look after surgery. Most people never see them this way since they stay overnight. My vet allows me to bring my girls home since he feels they will get the attention here rather than up there all night alone when everyone has gone home. I  my vet!! :) Anyway, she looks pitiful but she is doing fine. She came through her surgery, chipping and dental work like a little champ. I have her in a little Sherpa soft crate and will just carry her around the house with me wherever i go. Angel and Kissy were sooooooooo happy to see her but of course didn't understand why she was so groggy and didn't want to run and play. I got pain meds (2 drops/day) of Metacam for her so that should keep her comfy for a few days. Thanks to all of you that sent posts of support and prayers! they really meant a LOT to me!! HUGS! XOXOX ....Linda |
1 Attachment(s) I will pray for you little one. My little one Fantasia had hers done last Thursday. She also was chiped and had her teeth pulled on to of the spayed. She was so sad when I brought her home. My vet let me take her home the same night also. She slept most of the time and from time to time she would cry and that broke my heart. But she is fine and almost back to her little prissy self. I am sure she will feel better soon. Prayes from Fantasia. |

I just heard the good news that Princess is doing well!! Yeah!! I have not had Jewelina spayed yet. My vet wants to wait with her being so small. I hate to risk her having a heat but he doesn't think, with her size, that she'll go into heat before 8 months so I'm hoping she'll grow a little more before then and then we can get it done. I am so happy that she is happy and healthy again and thank you so much for your well wishes!! Bigs hugs to you! Joy |

I don't blame you for waiting on Jewelina to get older and weighs more. From my limited experience with these little ones, it does seem that they don't go into heat the first time until they are almost a year old so you should have plenty of time to fatten your baby up! LOL!! Angel was almost 10 months old when we had her done and Princess is 11 months old and wasn't showing any signs of going into heat yet. I am sure there are exceptions but i think the little ones just don't mature as fast as the larger dogs. Kissy got spayed at 4 months but she was about 4 lbs. at the time so that wasn't so risky. With Jewelina's illness, i think you are wise to wait awhile. She is just soooooooooo precious!! We send hugs and kisses too!! XOXOXO ....Linda |

Thank you Linda! Poor Princess! I know how pathetic they look when they come back home. When Jaden got nuetered he was NOT a happy boy! She will be back to normal self in a few days though! Jaden was just below 4 pounds when he got Nuetered so it wasn't too risky. Of course, all of us mommy's are always just worried silly over any surgery! I am so glad your little girl's surgery went well, you were in my prayers all day today and I'll keep darling little Princess in my prayers for a speedy recovery! Keep us all updated and lots of love to you and yours!!! Joy |
surgery Hi...i don't think i have been this worried over my own birthed kids! LOL!! I had boys so they were in and out of ER constantly growing up. My furry babies are just so helpless that it just breaks my heart for them to hurt. I really appreciate all of your prayers today! Trust me!! I really felt all of them today and it meant so much to me!! :) The little boys seem to have a much easier time since it isn't so invasive but it is still scary any time they have to be put under for any reason. Princess is snoozing away and i am constantly checking to see if she is still breathing. i'll try to get her to eat a little bit of something when she wakes up. we are trying not to disturb her but of course, Kissy and Angel have been squeeking their toys, barking their brains out and making all kinds of racket! Thanks again for being here for me and my girls!! XOXOXO ....Linda |
