These little tiny ones can really give us heart failure when they get sick or have surgery. I am just so relieved that she is coming through just fine. Just make sure you use a GOOD vet that has performed this on the super tiny ones. The anesthetic is the tricky part and the most critical. Fortunately, they only have to go through this once and are happy the rest of their lives not having to deal with the heat any more. They are too tiny to breed so i don't believe in putting them through all that mess every 6 months, IMO! :)
Be sure and let us know when you get Momiji spayed so we can pray for her too. I know this forum has really been comforting to me today!
HUGS! XOXOXO

Your baby will do fine. I'm so glad you are doing it when she is young. My Gigi is now 8 years old and she developed breast cancerllate last year. My vet told me that having a female spayed before her first heat practically eliminates the chances of getting breast cancer later in life. Gigi had one entire side of breast tissue removed and a spay at the same time late last year and a subsequently second mastectomy of the remaining breast tissue earlier this year. Like your baby, she is around 3 pounds. She did fine and was home the same day after each surgery. You will be surprised how fast your baby will recover from a spay. It is really one of the best things you can do to increase the chances of a long and healthly life. She will be fine.

Hi! Thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear about your little Gigi getting cancer. I hope she is doing ok. I have also heard about them developing cancer if they aren't spayed young so that is why i have had all 3 of mine done before their first heat. I will do what i have to do to extend the lives of my precious little babies. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am on the way to get her in about an hour. It is so funny that Kissy and Angel are moping around today. We have only had Princess for 2 weeks but they really seem to miss her today. I have given them extra attention but they know something is up. I am sure they can sense my anxiety level!
Give Gigi a big hug and kiss from my girls!:ribbonp:

Princess is home! YEA!!!

I just brought Princess home. She looks sooooooooo pitiful but i know that is the way they look after surgery. Most people never see them this way since they stay overnight. My vet allows me to bring my girls home since he feels they will get the attention here rather than up there all night alone when everyone has gone home. I  my vet!! :)
Anyway, she looks pitiful but she is doing fine. She came through her surgery, chipping and dental work like a little champ. I have her in a little Sherpa soft crate and will just carry her around the house with me wherever i go. Angel and Kissy were sooooooooo happy to see her but of course didn't understand why she was so groggy and didn't want to run and play.
I got pain meds (2 drops/day) of Metacam for her so that should keep her comfy for a few days.
Thanks to all of you that sent posts of support and prayers! they really meant a LOT to me!!

I will pray for you little one. My little one Fantasia had hers done last Thursday. She also was chiped and had her teeth pulled on to of the spayed. She was so sad when I brought her home. My vet let me take her home the same night also. She slept most of the time and from time to time she would cry and that broke my heart. But she is fine and almost back to her little prissy self. I am sure she will feel better soon.

Prayes from Fantasia.

Oh Linda I know you must be sooo relieved! I am sitting here kind of freaked out about Tatum going back to the vet tomorrow for more shots (she threw up last time after her shots :() This time she goes in for her Rabies - and I am dreading it! I can deal with the shot itself as long as everything goes well afterwards :( I absolutely HATE seeing my baby sick! :( But then again, don't we all :(

Stedman and The Tator are sending sweet puppy hugs and kisses to little Princess and I hope she isn't feeling too bad after her surgery :( I'm sure that she will be back to her normal self very, very soon! :)

Have you had Jewelina spayed? She is just a precious little mouse! I know you are happy to have her healthy again. I know you went through a scare with her being sick recently. I don't think i worried this much about my human kids when they were growing up! :embarasse

Hey Linda!
I just heard the good news that Princess is doing well!! Yeah!!
I have not had Jewelina spayed yet. My vet wants to wait with her being so small. I hate to risk her having a heat but he doesn't think, with her size, that she'll go into heat before 8 months so I'm hoping she'll grow a little more before then and then we can get it done.
I am so happy that she is happy and healthy again and thank you so much for your well wishes!!
Bigs hugs to you!

I hope the shots go well for Miss Tatum tomorrow. When they are this tiny it is just so hard as you know!! I am surprised they will give her the rabies so young. Princess hasn't had her yet and she is almost a year old. The breeder didn't give it to her and my vet said to wait and give it to her this summer. That way she will get the 3 year one. She will never leave my side so don't think she has a chance to get rabies but if she boards anywhere, she will have to get it. At least they don't have to put it in the muscle any more...that was soooooooooooo painful for all the furbabies. I hope she doesn't get sick from her shots tomorrow. Please keep us posted. This is a great support group as i am finding out today. It has truly been a blessing for me and my girls!

Hi Joy! Yes, we are home but she is not happy yet! She looks sooooo pitiful!
I don't blame you for waiting on Jewelina to get older and weighs more. From my limited experience with these little ones, it does seem that they don't go into heat the first time until they are almost a year old so you should have plenty of time to fatten your baby up! LOL!! Angel was almost 10 months old when we had her done and Princess is 11 months old and wasn't showing any signs of going into heat yet. I am sure there are exceptions but i think the little ones just don't mature as fast as the larger dogs. Kissy got spayed at 4 months but she was about 4 lbs. at the time so that wasn't so risky. With Jewelina's illness, i think you are wise to wait awhile. She is just soooooooooo precious!!
We send hugs and kisses too!!
XOXOXO

Thank you Linda!
Poor Princess! I know how pathetic they look when they come back home. When Jaden got nuetered he was NOT a happy boy! She will be back to normal self in a few days though! Jaden was just below 4 pounds when he got Nuetered so it wasn't too risky. Of course, all of us mommy's are always just worried silly over any surgery! I am so glad your little girl's surgery went well, you were in my prayers all day today and I'll keep darling little Princess in my prayers for a speedy recovery!
Keep us all updated and lots of love to you and yours!!!

surgery

Hi...i don't think i have been this worried over my own birthed kids! LOL!! I had boys so they were in and out of ER constantly growing up. My furry babies are just so helpless that it just breaks my heart for them to hurt. I really appreciate all of your prayers today! Trust me!! I really felt all of them today and it meant so much to me!! :)
The little boys seem to have a much easier time since it isn't so invasive but it is still scary any time they have to be put under for any reason.
Princess is snoozing away and i am constantly checking to see if she is still breathing. i'll try to get her to eat a little bit of something when she wakes up. we are trying not to disturb her but of course, Kissy and Angel have been squeeking their toys, barking their brains out and making all kinds of racket!
Thanks again for being here for me and my girls!!
XOXOXO

Thanks Linda - I do too :( Stedman had his Rabies shot at the same age as Tatum, and he did fine with it...but then again, he NEVER threw up after any of his shots like Tatum did either :( So of course I am a worried mommy. The Rabies shot is required by law here in Texas, so she does have to have it - and tomorrow is dooms day! She doesn't seem to MIND the shots though - she doesn't make a single peep when they stick her :( Stedman on the other hand cries and whines like a big 'ol baby, LOL. But that's just so he so that explains it :p Haha.

Thank you for your kind words and I am still thinking about little Princess :) We need to place another order soon - just trying to wait for little Ms. Tatum to grow some more so that she doesn't outgrow everything (she's still good with the Fufu she has though - it still fits! :))

*BIG HUGS!* :ghug:

We are over the hump!

Good morning! We had a GREAT night!! TG!! Princess slept all night and even ate a little bit before bed time. I kept the top of her crate open all night beside the bed so i could hear her if she made a peep. She was ready to go out this morning and has eaten b'fast. I am trying to keep her zipped up in her sherpa today so she doesn't get too excited. I am guessing she will sleep a lot today too. Guess the worst is over now! WHEW!!
Thank all of you for all your prayers! It really helped me to get through this with Princess. :)
I hope the shot goes well for Tatum today. Maybe she won't throw up afterwards! Poor baby!! Yes, the rabies are required here in Texas so we will get them eventually! My other girls are up to date but we are waiting on Princess until she gets a little more adjusted to her forever home. We have put her through a lot in the last 2 weeks since we were all new to her and her life. She seems to be adjusting well and my girls love her. Princess even tried to give kisses to Kissy but she doesn't want a dog licking her face! LOL!
She just growls at Princess and princess will just flop over on her back in front of Kissy. They are so funny to watch. I can't get anything done! :D
Thanks again YT'ers!! I love this forum and appreciate all the prayers!!

Thank you! My girls really are sweethearts!:D Kissy and Angel really missed their little sissy y'day and they laid down beside her little crate last night instead of getting in their own beds. i really think they sense that Princess isn't feeling well. I have Princess upside down in my arms as i type this. She is sound asleep like a real baby! She started jerking a little this morning and i think she is having those surgery gas pains. she is comfy now and i'll just sit here all day if i have to. :) My orders will just have to wait!!:D

fufu,
so glad to hear that your Princess is doing well so far. That's great!

Little Pookie is still working very aggressively to chew on her stitches. The collar didn't work, so we put her in Onesees (so cute, she looks like she's in long johns or something), and of course this morning we got up to find she'd wiggled her way out of them. So tonight I think we'll try a combo of the soft collar and her "jammies" as my husband refers to them.

She was feeling more perky yesterday, and it's hard to keep her down. In fact she seemed fine when we went to bed so we didn't give her a pain pill. We hate the rebound effect when it wears off, she starts acting all paranoid about noises, imagined or otherwise. But this a.m. my husband said she was shivering, so we gave her another pain pill. Nonetheless, it's progress to have her make it all the way through the night without it.

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your Princess, that she feels better very very soon.

Hi Sweetums,
I am so happy to hear that Pookie is doing better today! They do seem to bounce back pretty quickly! i have put a little fufu on Princess to keep her from licking her stitches so that is working for her. Glad you found something for Pookie to wear to protect her stitches. That is so important to keep the stitches dry.
I gave Princess another drop of her pain med so she is finally resting comfortably again.
give Pookie a big hug fom me & my girls!
