5th day of vomiting after shots My little Chili who is 14 weeks old went to the vet on Tuesday and recieved bordettella round of shots with a benadryl shot. When I got him home he was very sleepy and vomited later that evening. The next day, Wednesday, he was very clingy to me and licking alot and he vomited around 2:30pm so I took him back to the vet and he recieved centrine shot and pills to take at home for his vomiting and the vet said it was probably due to stress from giving him the shots all in one round. When I got him home, he began sneezing and his appetite minimized. Thursday he seemed okay till around 8:30 when he vomited again and started his sneezing again and worse than before. Friday was really bad with both sneezing, dry heaving and then vomited 7 times. I spoke with the vet who wanted me to bring him back in but I refused because everytime I take him, he comes home worse and the stress from all the poking and temp taking etc just seems to be too much. I have decided to keep him home for the weekend and see if it runs it's course before I decide to see another vet on Monday if needed. Now, it's Saturday afternoon and he has vomited 2 times this morning and is not eating or drinking and his sneezing is about 50% better. I orally force feed him Pedialyte and he licks a little nutri-cal but he is not eating his normal food and water and for sure not enough of it. He is sleeping tremendously and seems to sometimes have fast breath followed by slow breaths. I just want to get my fun puppy back the way he was before these shots. I am extremely worried about him and am noticing him starting to scratch and shed. I am doing my best to keep nutrition in him but nothing solid seems to be appealing. I am a new pet owner and a little freaked out by all this. Help! |
If your not happy with your vet, get him into another one. Reactions to vaccines can be serious. |
Keep forcing fluids and try to get some food into his tummy. It's very important that he eat something, but please don't try a bunch of different stuff to tempt him, as that can upset his tummy even more:( Here's a link to what happend with my Luna when I first got her, and how she was saved. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58036 If you don't have any of this stuff, you can boil some chicken breast and grind that up with some plain white rice and try that. Keep us posted:love: |
I would definatley get her to another vet as soon as possible. That is a long tome for her to be sick. I will keep her in my prayers |
