Azitromicin??? My hubby gave me a puppy girl as a present for my B-day 2 weeks ago...:cheer: She is soooo cute...:p I already love her to pieces...:aimeeyork But since she arrived she has this annoying cough, and sometimes it seems she is going to puke after having a episode of cough, but the puke never happens... maybe she's just clearing her throat:idontknow Anyway, now she's on a medicine (syrup) to easy the cough and Azitromicin 4,5mg... Did anyone give Azitromicin to your 3months old baby? Any experience w/ this medication? Thank you in advance... Katiuscia & Maggie & Hannah....:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
A 3 month old, with a cough as you described, would worry me, too. I'm assuming you had your baby checked out by a vet who prescribed the azitromicin. Has the medicine helped? Is the puppy still coughing? If there's been no improvement, or if the baby is getting worse, the only suggestion I have would be to go back to the vet again. I wish you luck. Hope your baby gets well. Keep us posted. :) |
Yes, she was checked by a vet and the doctor doesn't think it's kennel cough otherwise my other yorkie would have caught it... Today was the 1st day I gave Hannah the Azitromicin... so far so good she didn't have any bad reaction (my worst fear!) ,it's gonna be a 3-5 days long treatment, it's depending on her improvement... She is still coughing though:( Well, I guess time will tell... I was worried about this medication 'cause I've never heard of it been used in pups... I don't know...  Thank you for the kind words...;) ;) Katiuscia & Maggie & Hannah....:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
I don't know about giving it to a puppy... I was on Azitromicin 2 weeks ago for Strep Throat. It seems pretty strong for a dog. |

This is the same as Z-pack for us.......it's a broad spectrum antibiotic (strong)....you need to give plenty of fluids and not give on an empty stomach. Hope your baby is better soon! |

She ate well at the time I gave the medication and drank well too... she had a little diarreah this morning though... But it's normal, right?? |

The diarrhea could be a potential side effect of the meds.......sounds like your baby is on it's way back to health  |

Yeah, i think it's a side effect (check with your vet just incase). I know it's a side effect for adults. |
THANKS GIRLS!!!;) ;) I hope my little baby gets well soon, she is so tiny and already having to take heavy drugs...:( I get sooo worried w/ this happening, and praying she doesn't have any serious side effects... Maybe I'm overreacting about this situation, but I can't help it...:( You're all great people... thanks for support...;) |
