Wrigley had a blockage Well yesterday we thought she just had a stomach bug, but she continued to vomit starting early in the morning and we had to return to the vet. They did x-rays, blood work, etc.. and she had a blockage. They were worried at first that it was pancreatitis because she had blood in her stools, but that all came back negative. They gave her an enema and barium and fortunately she was able to pass everything. The vet said her stool had all kinds of bits of different things, most likely from her different toys, small strings, fleece bits, hair, etc.. I just posted yesterday that we had learned about the danger of toys with strings and sure enough that came true today. She just couldn't pass anything because all of this had built up and there was a possibility of surgery if the treatments didn't work since this would become life threatening. She's home, but she's had a really trying day and she's very sore, tired and just not feeling too well! It's so sad when they are so sick, you feel so helpless! I hope everyone realizes the danger with all these toys, it sure has opened our eyes! Please keep Wrigley in your thoughts and prayers! |

Keeping Wrigley on my prayers:hands: poor baby:getwell: |
Thank You again for the well wishes and prayers! Wrigley is feeling better this morning, she's starting to move around more and aggravate her big sister, Crosley. :) We thought when she went to the vet on Friday that she had not gained any weight from 6-8 months of age,but she has! She weighed 3.09 at 6 months and now at 8 months, she weighs 4.02! Our vet has been wonderful and called us 4 times to check on her last night! Today she is getting a bath because all that white barium stuff has made her a mess! She will be on a special diet for a few days and all the unsafe toys went in the trash! Thanks! |
I am very happy Wigley is doing better today. A bath I'm sure will make her feel like a new puppy:) Poor baby but you got very lucky since no surgery was involved. Carol & Buddy |

Well Wrigley isn't doing too good this morning, we are so worried about her! She pooped twice very early Sunday morning, but it was still mostly white from the barium and then not at all the rest of the day or night. This morning she pooped and it was loose and had a small amount of bright red blood in it. She ate fine the food the vet told us to give her on Sunday, but she won't take anything this morning. Not cheese, nutrical, anything! We are so scared she has another blockage! Poor thing will most likely being going back to the vet for the third time in four days! Please keep her in your prayers! :( |
Keeping Wrigley in my prayers! I will look for an update. Jessica |

oh poor baby . . .that must have been quite an ordeal for her. My Tiger is the same thing . . he is a big time chewer. Yesterday he vomitted so much I did not know what was going on. But I think he took out everything as foamy muccus came after about 4 times of vomit . . . the rest of the afternoon till this morning nothing so am guessing whatever he ate finally came out. :( He too eats strings, threads, plastic even poop   Tiger and Annika send warm slurppy get well kisses. |
Well, Wrigley once again seems to be doing better! The vet said her bowels and everything are inflamed and sore, so that could cause the bright red blood and he suggested we try feeding her white rice and chicken and give it today to see how she does. She's eaten it twice today and pooped again and it was almost normal! She's also moving around more! It's like a roller coaster, one day she's fine and the next she isn't! Poor thing, I wish they could talk and tell us exactly what the problem is! We keep vaccuming the house like crazy and I swear she still seems to find the smallest little piece of something on the floor to eat! Thank You again for the well wishes and prayers and I sure hope we are out of the woods now! |

My vet said it's not unusual for them to eat poop, Wrigley has done that once or twice. It's the plastic, strings, etc.. that you have to worry about! Wrigley and Crosley send the kisses back to Tiger to feel better soon! :) |
