Can yorkies become constipated Gia went to sleep last night passing lots do gas & smelling like a fish market (I know she's not in heat because she just was fixed in the beginning of the month). Well I noticed this morning she wasn't moving around a lot & there was this lingering odor of old fish (I hate to be so graphic) Well when I picked her up I got a strong hit of where the small was coming from, so as I was giving her a bath I noticed she had poop stuck in her butt. I have one of those shower heads were you can change the speed so I but it on massage & let the warm water hit that area & she pooped a little more but as I was drying her I noticed the smell was still there (not as bad as before but it's still around her bottom area) My first question is can yorkies become constipated? What can I do besides take her to the vet? And can they eat prunes or drink prunes juice? |
problem Sometimes a stool can get caught in the hair etc..it could be her anal glands also...if another bath does not help I would think glands. They really do not get constipated very often it is the other way around...but the stool can get hard if they eat alot of dry...a spoon or two of canned ususally starts things going again... |
Now if the anal glands wil I have to bring her to the vet? What will they do to her? Becaue now she just laying in my lap which is not Gia at all. I'm going to try to give her the canned food & she if she'll eat it. |
When Pheobe was constipated, my vet told me to give her a little bit of mineral oil and it work. Hope your baby feels bettet soom:rainbow: |
Our little Bogus went through this a few weeks ago...almost exactly what you described....I got some infant glycerin suppositories and that took care of the immediate problem. He had a bowel movement within 2 minutes and it was a hard dry stool, then gave puppy wet food with a 1/2 tsp of veg. oil in it..he was fine after that. |
