Please help quickly! Rex is acting really weird. We couldn't find him anywhere, so we finally look in the bedroom closet, and he's just laying there, shaking. When I picked him up, he whined (those high-pitched short whines, like he's in pain), and so I layed him on the bed. He immediately rolled over on his back, so I kind of felt around his legs and belly to see if anything was hurting him. I noticed that his lower belly (around his hind legs) is really hard to the touch. Then, I started scratching his hind legs. When I do this, he usually stretches his legs out straight, and he didn't do that (they just stayed in the bent position). Then I told him to get one of his favorite toys, and his ears perked right up. He followed my husband to the living room (slowly trotting, instead of his usual running), grabbed the toy, and then dropped it, and layed down right in that spot. I don't think one of his legs is bothering him, or he wouldn't have even gotten up. Maybe he just isn't feeling good? Maybe he is just backed up? I ALWAYS overreact when it comes to my dog - would you take him to the emergency vet, or wait out the night? Thanks for any input! Kerry |

Has your dog ever had pancreatitis sometimes they will feel hard and distended, and yorkies are high on the list for this, I would watch him and take him in. I hope he is okay poor baby. |

I think your dog has eaten something he shouldn't and it's causeing him pain. I'd take him to a Vet. for check up and possible x-ray. |
Sorry about your little Rex! I hope and pray he will be okay. I think, if it was me, I'd get him to a vet asap...better to be safe than sorry. Sending get well wishes to Rex and hugs to you! |
I'm the paranoid type so I would go to the emergency vet. It's definitely not normal. If he's in pain, I would take him in just to make him more comfortable instead of suffering through out the night. Besides tomorrow is Sunday so you would go to the emergency vet anyways right? |

Whether it be a pancreatitis or something he ate, it could go from bad to worse. He could be constipated.. You might try some karo in warm water, Heat a a towel in the dryer & lay it on his belly. I wouldnt have him running around to much. Check his nose to see if its dry & see if his body feels hot. You may wait it out, you might want to call now & see what their procedures are if you dont know exactly & let him rest in your arms on the heated towels. But like another post stated tomorrow is sunday & you would have to go thru emergency vet anyways. Although my vet will come in for a extra $100 after hours, so you may call your regular vet & see if they have a emergency number on the machine. Because I know our actual emergency vet hospital here is farther away & costs alot more. Hoping he just has a tummy ache & will feel better soon |
Wow, thanks so much for all of your prayers and responses! We did end up taking Rexers in to the e-vet, and $315 later, our little man is okay. He was constipated, but not anymore! I'm so glad we decided to skip our friend's birthday party, and take him in - our peace of mind is definitely worth $315! Thanks again, Rex is going great, and back to his spunky old self! |
I have been to the E Vet a few times myself and one was for consipation, and it does cost alot but to know everything is ok is worth it all. Glad everything is OK with Rex!!!!! |

wew..glad he is ok..our little Bogus was neutered last week and the next day, he was doubled over squeeling and it scared me to death...he was trying to have a bowel movement and I didn't know it...I guess all of the anesthesia made him constipated and he couldn't go...he's all fine now, but wow it leaves you guessing whats wrong with your baby in a state of panic:confused: |
