is anyone there?? I think Kayah's choking she's been making this really weird snorting noise since about 1 am non-stop.. I haven't slept a wink just to make sure nothing happens to her.. here's the thing.. can dogs have a sore throat?? When, for the short time she lays in bed with me.. as she swallows.. her throat kinda goes up (like us humans when we have a bad sore throat) Ok, now after she does all of this.. she makes this noise as if she were about to puke or is trying to get something out of her throat.. what do you guys think this could be? do you think she just has a simple cold? I did give her a bath yesterday at about 2:30pm (bf gets homw at three) and left her in the kitchen downstairs to run around and go crazy drying herself (which she does every week).. it is really cold here in chicago and since the kitchen is big and the whole downstairs is pretty much open space.. it's always cold down there... one more thing.. I leave Kayah with my bfs mom when I go anywhere.. and so at about 5pm that is what I did.. I bundled her up and took her to my future mil.. it's 5:22am here and at 5am I called her because .. well, I'm tired.. anyway.. she lives two houses down from us (yeah I know:rolleyes: ) and came right over.. she told me Kayah's been doing that when she got there.. which is weird.. because from the time I went to pick her up (7) till the time we went to bed (12) she didn't do any of that once So, SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME:( I am going to take her to her vet first thing in the morning.. but I thought maybe someone can help ease my mind a little |
It may be a collapsing trachea. Get her to the vet asap. |
I have no idea what could be causing this but I would get her to the vet ASAP! Hopefully some of the experienced members will be up and see this soon. Poor baby ... please keep us updated!! |
Aww, poor thing! I don't have any advice either, but agree with going to the vet. Hope all is well! |
thank you.. vet opens at 9 so we'll be there before they even open:rolleyes: I don't care.. it's my baby! |
Awww, hugs and prayers being sent your way. Try not to worry to much...(I know how hard that is). It's most likely something minor and she'll be better in no time! And let us know how it goes!!! |
Chesley started doing that a couple of months ago in the middle of the night, took her to the vet the next morning, she had a respiratory infection, the gave her antibiotics. Take your baby to the vet in the morning, to have her checked to stay on the safe side, she might have swallowed something? Good luck, and keep us posted! |
I have seen dogs do that, I guess with a cold or sinus problem. It is scary. I would try to keep her warm & see how she is in the morning. Do you have your vets emergency # incase worst case..Hope she goes to sleep & feels better tomorrow. I would just make sure you crank the heat up & put her in a small room w/the door shut to dry off when its so cold so she doesnt get a chill. And definately finish up w/a hair dryer to make sure she is completely dry & warm before taking her outside to go somewhere. They can feel dry but still be a little damp or cold from the bath. Keep us posted. |
Sounds like she could have a little cold. Just like with humans, the symptoms will be worse at night. She also could have aspirated some water during her bath. Keep her warm and let us know what the vet says. |
Could be respiratory infection or reverse sneeze. Good luck. Keep us posted. |
I sure hope she is ok, please let us know asap! sending prayers and hugs! |
