Asap......help..now...please....asap.. Tyson just woke up, and he has been fine all day, nothing out of the ordinary.....please help, he was extra loving and then he just stood up walked around the couch, he was standing in front of me and my fiance and then he just started like swaying back and forth.........what the heck is going on help.......I am waiting fr the ER vet..........please help........anything.... |
maybe he has low blood sugar??? this happened to bella around christmas time and i took her to the er....they said it was her blood sugar. i dont know how it got so low bc i carry nutrical on me at all times, but it did.....hope this helps..... |
that has happened before to mine, and it was low blood sugar , its good that you called the Er vet about it, I usually give mine nutri-cal when that happens ...let us know what the DR says ...Hope he feels better soon (( Hugs )) |
Nutri-Cal is good but I would put a spoon full of sugar into his bowl of water. When my old (long time ago) Pomeranian had hpoglycemic attacks that is what the vet advised me to do and it always worked!! :p Good luck! Hope all is well. |
While I wrote this thread TJ called an ER, we drove about 90mph with our hazards on.......we took him there ASAP.............PLEASE dont let anything be wrong with him..........he just got neutered 6 days ago, he still has stitches in, he gets them out tomorrow..............OK...........we just got back, right before we left, Tyson jumped off the couch he seemed OK, so I got up to get some clothes on and he wants someone by him all the time, so he got up walked and the swaying started..........not like seziure activity, a sway, and then reaaaaaaaalllllll slowwwwwwwww his 2 little back legs just slid right out from under him..............I pray that it is what you guys have experienced............really I dont want it to be anything, but the things going thru my mind, blood sugar would be a blessing, I am so scared it is going to be something more...........Ok at the vet, they looked him over, DR took him in the back..............put us in a room, about 10min they brought him into us, vet said he looks good, little unsteady, Tyson did walk around kinda woobly, vitals are all normal............we talked about different things it could be, he did mention bloodsugar..............he is 6months old and over 8 pounds..he never had this when he was smaller and he ate normal all day and drank, we3 dont think he got into anything, DR is keeping him overnight........we are so freaked, he just had his surgey and now this, they are gonna have to poke him for blood AGAIN, put him in a crate, they did say they would put him bacj in ICU so DR and nurses will watch for any werid activity.........thanks for your threads, does the rocking thing sound like what your puppies did, I am a human nurse and I guess I thought a hyperglycemic episode would mimic more of a seziure, human like I guess, maybe I should just stick with humans and leave puppy health to the vet people..........any advice will do.......we are waiting for vet to call us with blod work results...........thanks |
I can't say that I know anything about whats going on... But I will pray for your little guy! I know how scary it can be and how helpless you can feel when they are ill and you can't help them! I'm sending angels to be with him tonight!:angel2dl: :angel2dl: :angel2dl: k |
Poor baby, and i can imagine you must be nervous. Please keep us posted. Keeping you in my thoughts, and prayers. |
Oh I hope all is ok. Please update when you can. Saying a prayer. |
I'm so sorry your little one isn't feeling well. I hope everything is ok now. My first thought was low blood sugar but I'm no vet. I'm glad you got him to the vet adn he's being watched carefully. He will be in our prayers ;) |
I'm sorry that your little one is going through this. I hope today brings good news! |
I really don't know what this could be, but I truly pray for good news for you and Tyson. |
I thought I wrote an update before I fell asleep in bed sitting upright, but after re reading my thread I guess either I deamed that I wrote it or it is somewhere in PC land.............so............the vet did call last night about 45 min after we got home last night and he said his bloodwork is all normal..........I was so excited, then the nurse in me kicked in and then I was like uuugghhh............then what it is? A part of me wanted it to be something that showed up, something we can fix or something we can treat.........and now.......nothing......so what now????????? Vet says he will keep him and he will callus before he goes home...........I sat up for awhile and went over in my head NOW WHAT??? Nothing in the bloodwork so where are we going from here, per the vet he will be watched and we can get him when we get up...............not to sure about that...my puppy should not be swaying after he gets up from sleeping...........It is alomst 8am and the vet just called..........good news................but is it?Tyson was OK thru the night or the 5 hours he was there, he ate a bit of food they took him out and they said he was fine, let him hang out in the back with the nurses and vet said he was more playful, so vet says he wants to keep him for some of the day and we will go rom there........Go where? Where do you go from here........I am soooooooo glad he is better, but what is wrong him? Of couse me and my fiance have to work tonight and we cant get out of it and I explained that to the vet and he said no problem, this same vet is back in tonight and me and my fiance will be off at like 11pm and the vet said it was best to leave him there and come after we get off work and he will go from there. Now Tyson is due to get his stitches out tomorrow at his vet. We like his usual vet but are getting sick of the staff, were talking abuit switching after Tysons last visit, but I guess I will take him back there for his follow up and then figure out who I will use.............We feel like crap for leaving him there........but I am to upset to leave him alone why we work......I want to know what is going on with him, maybe a new vet will have seen something like this before, What the heck is going on? I want to have a healthy puppy, I I cant watch Ty be sick, what do I do........get more tests to see what is wrong, but what test do I get??? So many questions and I am just sick about this. We love him so much. Thank you to everyone, just logging on and seeing that you guys took a min to send well wishes helps. Please send good thoughts are way...............he is such a sweet puppy, so full of life and a very good boy.........I will write more later, I am so tired..........THANKS |
I have no ideas what it could be, but prayers are on the way for your baby:love: |
Glad to hear he is better. CAli had a similar episode when she was about 6-7 months old. SHe woke up from a nap at about 9 pm and fell down the 2 steps we have by the bed and then was so wobbly when she walked. She was walking like her feet were hitting the floor before she expected them too. Hard to explain but anyway off to the ER vet 5 minutes away. I had already given her syrup to get her blood sugar up but the vet couldn't tell if it ws hypoglycemia since her sugar level was ok from the syrup I had given her at home. She had had 2 episodes prior to this and they seemed different. Cali wstayed overnight and seemed fine the next day and never had another episode. We were never sure she didn't get into meds since I had had her ay my elderly parents apartment that day but we could not find any evidence of it. So hopefully he will be fine. |
If the blood work came back fine, maybe him jumping off the couch & still having the stitches in hurt. Sorta knocked the wind out of him, although he seemed fine. I'm sure since it hasn't been that long since he had sugery, it's still sore. They say the bounce back quick but, I know if it were me, I'd be walking around doing certain things, although some things like straining would probably still hurt. Hope Tyson is felling better soon. |
My T.O. had a very similar situation happen to him...He would sway and could hardly walk..his was due to bloodsugar..he was so tiny 9 oz, and so young but the vet said it can happen to any size/age dog and to monitor him always...just as a precaution....it could also probably be from his recent surgery...he may not feel 100% yet and it could have made him a little off balance. We will pray for you guys. Let us know when all is well! |
I really think he had a bout of hypoglycemia |
Well Peeka my Yorkie is 9 months old and for the last 3 weeks he has started this new thing where he sits up and starts wobbling back an forth with his head down and slowly starts sliding to the floor. This freaked me out really bad because i thought he was having a seizure to. I called my vet and he told me to watch him that he didn't think i needed to bring him in because he was eating, drinking, and going potty just fine. Well i found out that he is falling asleep sitting up he doesn't want to miss a thing so he won't go lay down. It still freaks me out a little but i'm positive that's the reason Peeka does this. So this could maybe be a possibility maybe he was groggy from waking up to. |
It sounds like he is in very capable hands. The fact that they took him out and let him hang out with the nurses to play tells me they are a very caring facility. How lucky you are to have that....try not to worry too much (yeah right, lol) and hopefully this won't happen again...sending up a prayer for you. Take Care |
Hope your baby is doing better today. Carol & Buddy |
Is Ty on meds from his surgery? maybe the meds just are not sitting well with him? |
WOW.........Thank you guys soooooo much, just having this board to come to when I feel sad helps soooo much, and to all who have posted thank you you will never know how much it helps and everyone that shared there experience gives me hope also. He does still have his stitches intact, they come out tomorrow. Its kinda funny, we have had him at his vet since he came to us and after SX we felt there were some rude people there and me and my fiance were talking about changing....The ER vet he ended up at was one of those places where you here good and bad from, and of course the bad stick with you, but we had to take him there because it was only 5min from the house and I must say Tyson was treated like the little King he is, they did not miss a beat, ER DR was fairly young they have a nice ICU unit in the back where the DR and nurses sit at night and that is where they put TY to watch him all night, they called the moement they said they would call, so I guess I have learned my lesson on hearsay, sucks that it had to be this way, but after we take Tyson back to his old vet to get his stitches out I think we might switch over to this vet he is at now.......I feel so bad for my little guy, even if he does come home he has to go back tomorrow and get his stitches out............We are getting ready to search the house now that it is daylight to look for ANYHING..........and then I think we are gonna go up there and see him, I would rather see him and him get excited there and have him go with them just in case something happens then get him home tonight and him get all excited and somethinghappen here again..........Please think good thoughts, I will update as soon as something new happens........It helps in a werid wayto see all the little yorkie icons by the pics.......they are all so different in there own little way....such sweet personality.........even the vet that Tyson is at is this big guy and when he brought Tyson into us and I put him down and he walked over to the vet, the vet even had to say..gosh you really are a cute little guy.....and of course the nurses just loved him..........Yorkies are the best thing, so sweet and caring....EVERYTHING has to be OK WITH MY BABY............:animal36 |
I hope Tyson is feeling better...If you like the new vet better just switch him over. The new vet can take out his stitches. I switched mine when one of the vets left to start her own practice...I went with her. She is so sweet and caring. I trust her completely. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery.... |
i'm glad to hear he's doing better. I'm sure he'll be fine. I would be nervous too. Sometimes we as humans have a few days of feeling rotten (flu, belly ache, etc) and then we bounce right back to normal ,so I guess this can happen to dogs as well. Try not too worry, he'll be okay!! |
:p :p :D I have started a new thread about Tyson...............Yorkies Rock.. |
MoJo had a similar experience..a week after getting him, we rushed him to the ER. They shaved his left paw to place IV in him and there he stayed for the night..he was diagnosed with Giardiasis. hope everything stays okay for your lil man..and definitely change up vets |
