Gross!!!!!!! I suggest you not read this post anywhere close to meal time. Now, keep in mind, Gracie is my first dog in adulthood. I know that dogs eat everything. I have caught Gracie trying to eat the fur balls that the cats bring up. Today is the ultimate in gross. Gracie and I went to the park, a rare day without rain. There was dog and duck poop everywhere. Gracie so wanted to run. I do not trust her off leash so I had her on an extra long lead, probably 30 feet or so. I took her out on the grass and just let her run and do what she wanted. I know her nose was down in the grass, I could not tell if she ate anything or not. Anyway, we came home and I put Gracie in her ex-pen for a couple of hours while I went shopping. I came home, let her out of her ex-pen, and she proceeded to barf up a long, soft poop mixed with grass. I really don't think it was hers coming out the wrong end but I can't be certain. She does not act sick. I about lost it. Should I be concerned? Is duck poop dangerous to dogs? I really think this was dog poop but I worry about it being duck poop. I have no clue how she swallowed that thing whole. I am a nurse and not much grosses me out but this one is getting to me bad. Tell me if I need to worry and call the vet, or watch and wait (I am inclined to watch and wait). And just in case, if any of you are laughing, please stop! |
its probably duck poop...but if she threw it up maybe everything is fine...(im not a vet. so i dont know). thats just what i think. let me know how she is doing so far. |
I would say watch and wait, grayson did this last week but with cat poo and cat hairballs and he is still alive, but ducks I don't know??? |

OMG I would be so grossed out! Does she have all her vaccines (I'm sure she does). I called my vet once b/c Hallie was eating goose poop at the park and he said she would be fine besides having an upset tummy, which she never got either (she has a stomach of steel). I'm glad she is acting okay! |
My girls do get into my Parrots catch trays of poop and seeds and eats it. How ever there is not much because I am always cleaning it out. They have not gotten sick yet!!!! Sometimes there poo is alittle colorful!! And my Parrot diet is different than wild ducks I am sure it can not be good for them.. And they know they are in trouble when I catch them in the trays .. I have a vet appt on monday I WILL ASK.. just keep an watchful eye out.. |
Gracie is up to date on her vaccines. Thanks everyone. |
Roxy helps herself to goose poop when we walk by the pond (Canadian geese) and so far, no ill effects, except the occasional "honk" when she reverse sneezes. She is quite the conisseur of "exotic" foods :p . |
Siu Pao used to eat my budgie's poop. He is fine and he is done with the habit. I guess he got bored of it! |
I think if she's not acting sick she should be OK! that does sound quite disgusting, I think I'd be barfing if one of mine did that! I guess she's not giving Mommy any kisses for a while? |
