Poisoning from Raid If my yorkie at a bug that was killed at least a month ago with Raid, could he get sick? He keeps sneezing and he's going in tomorrow for kennel cough, but now he's trembling and i'm wondering if he ate something. I know we've sprayed for spiders in the past, but I think almost everything was cleaned up but he was in the area. :( |
I would doubt very seriously that he has been "poisoned" by the Raid if it has been a month ago AND you cleaned up. Are you taking him to the vet because he HAS kennel cough to to vaccinate AGAINST kennel cough. If he HAS kennel cough then the sneezing and trembling is probably related to that. It is also possible that some dust is tickling his nose. |
I'm taking him b/c I think he has it. Now i'm just freaking out b/c there may have been one or two small insects left but I know those were killed a WHILE ago. I had him in the basement for a minute(its furnished but bugs come through the sliding glass doors) and he went near there sniffing and investigating. He's just FREAKING ME OUT!! I can't take him to the vet until tomorrow and he's congested and trembling in his sleep. I gave him nutrical though. If the trembling/hacking/sneezing is from kennel cough then most likely he's not going to die or something overnight and its just much worse than it seems. But he's making me SO NERVOUS and there's nothing I can do right now. |
How old is your little dude? |

:( UGH! and now he's throwing up! |
Do you have an emergency vet you can take him to? If not call poison control. Get help ASAP. Good luck! |

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'm being paranoid and its just a BAD case of Kennel cough. I cant wait till morning. He's sleeping peacefully now. I keep flicking his ears to make sure he's just asleep and not in a coma or something. Now that he's thrown up he's better, not as in healed but I dont feel so afraid now. :) |
Hope he's feeling better soon, keep us posted. |
I hope your little guy gets better soon. Remember that it can take a while, and a couple rounds of meds for kennel cough to clear. Sissy had it at 13 weeks and it took a month of meds before she was better. |
Awww, poor dude:( He probably threw up due to the coughing. I hope he feels better soon:love: |
I do hope your little boy will start feeling better soon. I always go with my gut feeling...If I can't get in when I think they should be seen, I call around till I find someone who can see them. |
I would take your puppy to the emergency right away dont hesitate! I am going through a horrible kidney failure with my baby he is only 11 weeks and it all started with a cold, I regret that I did not do full bloodwork sooner and that no vet could find what is wrong with my baby until the emergency hospital did find an infection and he has only slight chances of survival but he is fighting and so am i. Therefore this is my advice dont hesitate take him to the emergency as soon as you can ! Your baby may only have a cough but you gotta make sure that thats what it is. Good Luck |
*****UPDATE****** Peeka Boo went to the doctor today. Before we even went, he began to perk up. It seems to be a night thing. He ate a little prescription dog food. Well actually he ate it all, there was only a little there b/c they were testing to see if he'd throw up, he didn't. He enjoyed the sunshine on the ride there/back since he LOVES the car. He's been put on amoxicillin(sp?) for the Kennel Cough and meds for vomiting. I hope he'll eat again at 4ish, they gave me a can of the food he ate at the vet. Thanks for the support everyone. |
Thank you for the update! I am so very glad that your little Peeka Boo is ok! |
Me too.:) Carol & Buddy:aimeeyork |
Thank goodness! What a scare you had. |
Hope all is going well Seems like Parvo and Kennel Cough are really about in our area. I am due to take Baby Blessing in this week for her yearly shots but feel very uncomfortable to take her into the vets office, when I phoned the vets today and inquired about it she said, yes, that they are seeing dogs and puppies with both and it is really going about now but no problem in bringing Baby Blessing in for her shots:confused:   I am seriously thinking of taking her to a small community away from us, thinking hopefully it would be less chance of exposing her. I just learned today that one neighbor down the road has pups with Kennel Cough now after one of their dogs going to a show and bringing it home, she said on the phone they have seperated the ones that have it, scarey. We quit taking Baby Blessing anyplace for the past couple months due to this and the Parvo, even though we're not right near our neighbor, however I won't take her out side in the yard cause we are up wind from the home that has the dogs with the kennel cough :( I don't want to miss her getting her shots but am at the same time concerned. I asked if they couldn't come out to the vehicle to give shots, I don't know why not under these circumstances. They use to when we had our Doberman. What would you do if you were us? So glad your little one is doing better and prayers for it to be well real soon. Patti |
Thanks again everyone! Peeka was back to his old Psycho self yesterday and last night was nowhere near as hard. He just sneezed 2x an hour or so but woke up to eat with full energy when he was supposed to. Its so weird, every human(lol) I know is sick from this horribly mild winter we're having. Maybe its the same for dogs too? |
I'm glad to hear he's doing better! |
