making weird noise hi i was wondering if any of your guys yorkies make a chocking up a haiball noise? i have taken himto the vet and he said it was due to his small mouth and nose and that as long as it lasts a few seconds he was fine, but he makes an uhhh uhhh uhh noise when he drinks water only, he like sounds like he is chocking or something , but then he is overit in about 3 seconds i just wondered if yours did this or do i go back and persist to have him rechecked?thanks you guys are awesome, |
if it sounds like a goose honk it could be a collapsed trachea. :( |
Mine makes that noise sometimes. it sounds like a hairball. i've heard that's normal though. |
If he's doing what they call "reverse sneezing" -- it sounds like they're having a honking asthmatic attack -- but it lasts for a short time, and then they're over it ----and it doesn't hurt them a bit. This is especially common with smaller breeds. Mine all do it. They especially do it if they get excited. But like I said - it doesn't last long - and it's harmless. Carol Jean |

Making noises is not normal . Its a sign of respiratory problems . |
I'd get him rechecked, or even get a second vet to look at him. He could be suffering with a respiratory infection that could get worse if not treated. Luna had one when we got her, I thought she might have collapsing trachea, but it was just an infection that went away with antibiotics (Clavamox) Good luck and keep us posted on your little one:love: |

Hi, I agree its always better safe than sorry. Kikko was making horrible coughing noises and he ended up having a collapsed trachea. I have put a video of what he sounded like that night, so that you can hear how one case sounds like. But there are always varying degrees of severity. Mine is pretty bad b/c he had pneumonia and born with a small trachea already. I hope it helps. :( http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...1&ctime=144216 I really hope its nothing but if not, you can find lots and lots of info by doing a search for 'collapse trachea'. everyone here are very willing to help with any info. |
oh i took these videos to show to my vet, since we have a language barrier .. he doesn't speak much english. hahaha.... in case you guys thought i was weird or something. :p |
