? about Karo Syrup!!!! Hi all, I dont have any nutri-cal left and was wondering if it is ok to give Bella some Karo Syrup, because she is shaking a bit. I thought I read on here somewhere to give them Karo. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! |
My vet once told me that I could use it if I didn't have nutrical. It seemed to have the same affect. Probably not as healthy as nutrical, but a little bit if you really need it shouldn't hurt. |
I've used a bit of honey for Abbie a few times. Seemed to work fine. |
Karo is just as good as Nutrical for hypoglycemia. I, personally, don't recommend honey (especially for puppies) because honey can contain a bacteria. If you read up on honey you will find that human babies should not be given honey until they are at least one year old, or is it two?? |

I use the white Karo. Infact it was all we used in the old days and it worked. Never use honey. T. |
I all I could use was Kayro. Diesel HATED Nurtical. He would spit it out everytime. He wouldn't even lick it off of my hand. I always used the Light Kayro Syrup. |
Absolutely, white karo. Our vet told us the day we brought Toto home to stop and pick some up .... keep a little bottle filled with it and a spoon with us at all times! That was 3 years ago and I still do this! ;) [I also keep vet formula NutriCal.] |
Thanks all! I used the light Karo, he wouldnt lick it up so I put some on my finger and rubbed it on his gums....and waaalaaaaaa....he stopped shaking very soon after. |
Yes it should have the same effect, and to be honest I think it is a very similar product, in terms of the primarly ingredients! |
