I've just posted on another thread about this. My vet suspects my oldest yorkie, Zack has got Cushings but he wants to attempt to treat his skin problem first and then I've got to see him again next week to see if the skin has improved before we move on with further tests. I've been reading about Cushing's and it mentions weight gain a lot - mine's lost weight but he's eating well. Is this normal? It's very fightening thinking my boy might have this but also I'm reading some positive things about treatments. My Zack is nearly 15 years old. It's worrying as he's already an elderly dog but I want to try and give him as much quality of life that I can. |
One of my chi's had cushings.....prior he was fat and my vet recommeded a lighter diet......so I put him on a senior light food.......and when he started losing weight I was thrilled......until one day I just looked at him and I was like OMG what the heck is going on here.....he lost all his hair symetrically from the sides of his body.......and he looked like a skeleton with a little fur......it was awful......we treated him for about a year......one day his brother got sick with congestive heart failure......and after a week of trying to get that under control we had to have him pts.....and my little chi only lasted 2 weeks after that.....I'm sure besides his illness his heart was broken to lose his brother |
