Zoe just ate Onions Zoe just ate onions...not a small amount either. I'm on the phone witht he emergency vet....I am so upset right now. |
Yes call the vet. Onions are toxic! Prayers with you! |
Oh wow, im so sorry. Please keep us posted. I will keep her on my prayers. |
Oh no! I'll pray for Zoe and sending hugs to you! Please keep us updated! |
Oh, onions are toxic for pups?! I didn't know that!! Hope Zoe is alright...pls let us know how she is doing!! |
Thank you! I called the emergency vet whom told me to call poison control (which I had to pay $55.00). I had to induce vomit with hydrogen peroxide. It was so sad watching him throw up but OMG...the things that came out of his little body  I think he threw up everything. I just have to look out for bloody urine, fast breathing and pale gums. If none of these appears, he's fine otherwise we need to check for anemia. Poor little guy...he had an upset stomach as was today now this:( Thank you for all your concern. |

Poor little Zoe, but thank goodness you got him to vomit that up! I'm sure your heart just broke when he was vomitting...poor baby. I hope all goes well now and he feels like himself very soon!!! |
awww bless his little heart, I hope he is feeling better today. It's sad that you have to pay $55.00 to get help or else. Please let us know how he is feeling. |
Awww I hope that Zoe's tummy feels better soon |
How much peroxide did they say give him? i would like to know for future reference. i am so sorry you had to do this. I hope he is better. I have had to give my babies some nasty medicine before and it just kills me because they are so pitiful and think we are being mean to them when we are trying to make them all better. |
Awww, poor baby. I can't believe your vet couldn't help you with that, but I'm glad you got some help. Hope he's doing okay. |
Poor baby!!:( How is he doing? These pups are always eating stuff they shouldn't. Nikko has a bad habit of sitting at my feet whenever I am in the kitchen preparing meals. And if the slightest thing drops while I am chopping, he pounces for it faster than I can reach it for clean up. Please keep us posted on Zoe's condition. I hope the throwing up helped get all of it out of his system. |
Thanks guys for all your support and wishes! Zoe seems to be fine now. His first urine this morning was a little dark but now its normal...phew! I am just a paranoid mommy. I didn't want to leave him that I took him with me to get gas and buy milk. It was 10 minutes!!! Anyhoo...I gave him 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (make sure it fizzes) mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of milk or peanut butter. You then wait 10-15 minutes and if he stilll does NOT throw up, you give him one more time of the same dose. I had to give him a second dose for him to throw up but do not exceed 2 tespoons. THis should work. It's so sad seeing them in discomfort. YOu wish it was you and not them but hey, we are here to help them feel all better. Zoe really enjoyed the short joy ride he had with mommy. Now he's napping.:D |
Poor Zoe, I am sorry that he had to throw up, but I hope he is feeling so much better... These little guys are too quick.. sending hugs and kissses oxoxo |
So glad that Zoe is OK now, thanks to your quick handling of the situation. These little ones have to be watched like hawks sometimes. Today I was baking cookies, and some choc. chips fell to the floor. I had to practically dive to the floor to get them before my boys got them in their mouths. It gets crazy sometimes! |
Poor thinf :( I hope he feels better:) |
any updates??? |
Oh poor Zoe. I'm glad he feels better. My Kodi ate onion also before I didn't Know they were toxic. He had a big round slice. I was lucky I guess all he got from it was onion breath. |
How is Zoe? |
Poor baby!!! :( I hope he is back to his old self in no time!!! :aimeeyork |
thanks again guys!! He seems to fine still. He's taking nap right now and I will feed him his dinner soon. Poor thing want to play all day! |
I'm glad to see he's doing well! What a scare! |
Glad Zoe is back to normal. Why would a dog eat onions? You don't say how much Zoe weighs for the dosage they recommended. I've always been told 1/2 teaspoon per 5 pounds, but have never heard of waiting for the fizz to stop or mixing with milk or peanut butter. Good to know. Still keep a close eye on her because there is a condition called hemolytic anemia they can get from onion ingestion that occurs several days, like 5 after eating. Symptoms are : Pale gums Yellow tinged gums or whites of the eyes Dark or dark yellow urine Tiring easily, weakness Lethargy |
awwwwww poor little one glad that he is doing good now hun hugs and kisses his way!!! |

Zoe is 6lbs. I just followed the instructions that the posion control gave me and it worked. As for the fizz....don't wait for it to stop. Just pour it down a drain to see if it fizzes. The peanut butter is for them to swallow it. Zoe wouldn't drink the peroxide alone. They also told me about these symptoms and I have been watching him like a hawk. I am home all week except thursday so if he is fine by then, he should be ok. The vet told me to watch for these symptoms 2 days after the consumption but I will continue to look for them for a week...THANK YOU! As for eating the onions... Zoe eats anything and everything. I have to be extremely careful of what falls to the floor. I usually gate up the kitchen so he can't lick the floors but this time he went through a hefty garbage bag and took out leftovers and ate all the onions. |

Sorry, about the gender confusion, I was thinking more Zoey then Zoe. So I guess you are just making sure the peroxide is "fresh" by looking for the fizz. Silly boy, eating onions, I bet he wanted a kiss when you got home too! |

As for the name...I get alot of that. "WHY DID YOU NAME HIM A GIRLS NAME?" I thought it was a cute name and now I can't imagine him being named anything else. |
