Taking Lucy to the vet Yesterday while the family was here for dinner, I found a lump on Lucy. It's located at her back, right hip area in the soft tissue where the leg meets her back. It feels about the size of the tip of my thumb and doesn't seem to be attached to anything under the skin, but "floats". She doesn't act like it hurts or is sore but it's been driving me crazy since I found it. I called her vet this morning and she said to go ahead and bring her in. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or if I should be worried? I've never heard of anything like this. Lucy is 10 mos old and weighs 9.5 lbs, she's eating well, playing hard and doesn't even seem to be aware it's there. |
what a sickening feeling eh? been there... layla has had two of those before.. one was in response to a needle she got.. lasted about 3 weeks after the shot.. the other one.. same as you mentioned... kinda floats (which is good news... it would be bad news if it was attached to something) she doens't notice it is there... it went away.. i wonder if dogs bruise?? good luck and let us know how it goes! i'll be thinking of you two! |

Bella has the same thing!! It started very small right after she got her shots..so I figured it was just at the site. It is now the size of a pea and hasn't grown for about a month now. She doesn't act like it bothers her and it isn't attached to anything, but doesn't move too much. Let me know what the vet says..hhmmm. I just figured the next time we went in I would ask about it :confused: |
Cali has the same thing and it's been over a month since her shot and it's still there. |
Back from the vet! Good news! The vet said that the lump is not a lymph node or connected with her having shots or anything. It's entirely in the soft tissue and moves freely. He said that a lot of times small dogs running around can "clip" a door or a table or stool and catch that area and cause a little lump or knot that is an internal bruise or possibly scar tissue. Lucy injured that same leg when she was about 4 months old but he doesn't think it has anything to do with it. He wants me to watch it for 10 days and if it doesn't go down on its own he will remove it. He said it's not cancerous or anything dangerous, probably a cyst and that removing it will take only a few minutes. He didn't want to do it unless absolutely necessary because he doesn't like to put them to sleep unless there's no other choice. Thanks, everybody, I feel much better now! |
I found a tiny(smaller than a pea) around Lillies upper right shoulder (down a little bit) It's a floater too. I have noticed that it is getting smaller too...Where It's floating, I'm not freaking out so much about it and it doesn't bother her...it is not at the shot site and it's been like 2 or 3 weeks since her last shot so I don't think that's it...Lillie and Sadie play very rough so I am assuming she ran into something..I bring her to the vets next week for her rabie shot if it's still there I am going to have him take a look at it. I am glad to hear that you little one is ok... |
I'm very curious to know what each vet concludes So aggervating to worry about your pet, then be told oh its fine, but it doesnt seem fine when you can feel a lump under their skin. Thats very weird that all of your pets developed one after recieving shots. |
