Update on 2 1/2 lb Last night we did go to the Emergency Vets....Starlight (Toby) now weighs in at just over 2 lbs. this is not good... He eats well, he is 4 years old... They did do blood work and his BG came back at 71, which in itself is low but, not low enough to cause his problem... Due to the fact that he resides at my daughters home I can not rule out that maybe he ate something... He was sedate, staggering, not focusing on you... The vet said it was possible as he looked to him as atoxic too......Gave him dextrol and some electrolights (pouch).. just have to watch him today and if something looks funky then he will have to go back to our Vet.... I plan on making an appointment just to be sure... Thats the problem with these little ones, its one thing after another....Thanks to all for your prayers and thoughts........... |
that's so hard to hear - you must be worried sick - I hope he gets to feeling better and this makes me so glad mine are bigger - when they're that tiny everything is a big scare isn't it ?? What's a normal BG count ?? |
I hope he starts feeling better:( I'm sending hugs!:love-hug3 :love-hug3 |
Wishing good health for your lil guy! I hope it is something he may have ate, and will recover completely from it, and it is not a genetic problem. I know normal Blood glucose levels for humans is 80-120, I do beleive it is similair for dogs. Correct me if Im wrong. |
Normal for dogs is 67 to 125 so I do think 71 is enough to cause problems. Did the glucose injection seem to perk him up? Lacy was in the 30s even while on Nutrical, but she was having seizures. |
I think that 71 is mighty low, especially for such a tiny dog:( Luna's was 46 when she was sick, I just looked at her vet records:eek: She was on death's door!!! I hope that your little one is feeling better. Were you able to take him to your regular vet today? |
I hope your little one gets to feeling better. what a scarey thing to experience. |
Hope your little one doing better, praying for your furbaby. |
Cali was exhibiting the exact signs when she went hypoglycemic. Did you give her anything for her blood sugar before taking her to the Er vet that could make her level near normal quickly. |
bless his heart i will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery , i surehope he feels better soon |
