OK thank you. sorry I missed Pat's post. I'm trying to learn all of this. the tube feeding part scares me. I'd be afraid of hurting them. |
Thank you for those who are offering condolence. However, arguing about what was or wasnt done right is not effective for me at this point. I did WHAT I COULD. I talked to THREE people whom all said the same things. I am sorry I didnt have a pet store locally that carried BeneBac. I ordered it to be overnighted to me and that was all I could do. I tried to feed, I tried to give glucose. I held him all I could and did the best I could so I'm sorry if you disagree with something but I AM human and I DO hurt so please, let him rest in peace. |
Heather, I think you did a great job in caring for him. All breeders no matter what they have in their medicine chest and all their knowledge lose puppies - it's just a sad part of the birthing process. I believe vets regard losing a puppy as "normal" and don't believe heroic measures should be performed because there are probably other internal problems we can't see. Even all human babies unfortunately don't make it. Benebac is great and I use it, but it is no miracle product in an emergency situation - he was weak and even if you had been able to get the Benebac yesterday the result, in my opinion, would have been the same. It wouldn't have stimulated his appetite or given him the calories he needed. Benebac is good to have around though - I give it anytime they are on antibiotics, before vaccinations or any digestive upsets. |
I am glad to hear that Cricket is ok. When you mentioned that she had heavy bleeding it scared me. Sorry to hear about little Timmy, it sounds like you did all you could. My prayers are with you and the rest of your new family. |
