update on annie 1 Attachment(s) well things have got worse:( for those of you that dont know a month ago annie was fine one day then the next she had a head tilt, balance problems, was unsteady on her feet and her eyes were flickering up and down, i took her to the vet and he said it might be a stroke and gave her meds and said come back in a month. well after 3 days she was nearly back to normal she just had a bit of a head tilt so we thought oh good shes getting better. well that was untill about last wednesday when she cried when her head? neck? ear? or face was touched, we are not sure where it was that hurt her, well then her head tilt got worse, she kept falling over, she wont hold her head up, her eyes are flickering again and she not a happy girl. we took her back to the vets on friday and he said it may be a trapped nerve in her neck, he then found a bad tooth at the very back of her mouth and said it could be an infection pressing on her ear thats making her like this so next friday im to take her back for him to take out the tooth and give her an xray. well he gave her antibotics and on friday night after having them she went all floppy and hot so i had to wet her down all night, then the next night she did the same so i took her back to the vet and he said she was having a reaction to the pills so changed them , he also did a test on her eyes and one of her eyes she is now blind in:( im so worried about her shes just not right:( she is now turning her head to one side to eat and it keeps falling out her mouth bless her. she is having problems going to the loo as well as she keeps going around and around then falling over, then when she does wee its only a little bit and she hasnt done a poo for about 4 days , the last time she tryed to go she fell back and now shes not even trying. i cant even change vets as im not working so i go to the pdsa where all i have to pay is a little bit, im sure she needs a mri scan but they dont do them.:( please send get well wishes her way cos she needs them bless her. also if anyone has seen these symptoms before then please let me know? here is a pic of her when she seemed to be all better:( |

Hi I am very sorry to hear of what is going on with Anne. When you go back to the vets please ask them about Atlontoaxial Instablility. This is a genitic disorder in some small breeds. I have a yorkie with it. We were told a number of times that he had a pinched nerve in his neck. That was not true. He also was fine until he was injured badly because of the disease. There is surgery that can correct it. And it can be diagnost by an x-ray of the neck. Atlontoaxial Instablitity is when the c-1 and c-2 are compressing the spinal core in which it will cause your furbaby to have a tilted head and complain if touch in the neck area. They will lose balance and could be paralyzed like my little guy. We have had surgery done to correct this. He is now learning to walk again. But please ask because this is a disease that is overly misdiagnost. If you would like more info on this you can go to www.petplace.com and put Atlontoaxial Instablility in the search engine and it will give you all the info you should need. If you need to ask more questions please feel free to PM me and I will help as much as possible. Val and Babybear |
Sending special hugs and kisses to little Annie. She will be in our prayers. So sorry for this difficult time. Hope she gets better very soon. |
OH I forgot to mention. I am with a group that helps everyone out that is having problems congenital problems with there furbabies. You might find some good info there also. It is Congenitaldogs@yahoo.com. But please ask your vet asap about AAI( short for the long word.)lol. I hope your baby is feeling better tonight. And if she isn't try and keep her quite this will help if it is AAI. Val |
Awwww, I'm so sorry about your baby being in that shape. I hope you can find out exactly what is wrong with her. I'd call your vet and ask about the illness mybaby4me was talking about. Worth a shot anyway. Certainly sounds a lot like what you were describing. |
So sorry to hear that Annie isn't doing better. We will keep her in our prayers! Thank you for the update. |
That's heartbreaking and the only thing that comes to mind is something neurological and that is plain scary....:( :( ....I\'m so sorry ...I hope you find some answers for her |
